🌹Chapter 10🌹

      The bell giggled indicating that it was lunch period. I packed my mathematics books in my bag after the maths teacher walked out of the classroom carrying his books in one hand and adjusting his glasses with the other. I heard a loud noise like someone shutting the locker with an unusual force, I looked in the direction it came from, it was from Alice. She seemed better than she was last week, its been a week since that issue of theft. We haven't spoken to each other, the intraclass quiz competition was a success. Alice won first place alongside Emelda.

     I can remember the angry look on Victoria's face. She and Charles were a pair, I think she was concentrated on competing with Alice which made Science department 3rd, Art department coming 2nd for the first time.

    I was happy but I still couldn't talk to Alice. Everyone congratulated her and she received gifts from the principal and some commercial department teachers. The best was our department came 1st and we were the talk of the school.

     I noticed that everyone had left the classroom except Emelda, Alice and the notorious boys David and co. Alice stood up from her seat and left the classroom. I locked my locker and followed her out. I found her walking at a slow pace, I just followed her keeping a little distance between us. I was still contemplating on how to approach her and what to say first when she turned and faced me.

    "Why are you following me?" She asked with a puzzled face.

     My heart was suddenly heavy "I wanted to apologize".

    "For what?"

    "For everything. I know I'm wrong" I replied placing a hand on my chest in a way of showing sincerity.
  
    "I don't know why you avoided me since that theft scenario. I can't Blame you though, I had a bad reputation then....but coming back after my good reputation has been restored is really lame".

      (Cuts) 😱 Did Alice just say that? Sorry let's continue the story, I'm still Sozhia, follow me please 😋😋

    "What?. Is that what you really think? I remember vividly how I called you endlessly through out the week" I frowned and folded my arms on my chest.

    "You called and snubbed me at school. That's a really good way of apologizing" She said sarcastically.

    I sighed loudly feeling defeated, I dropped my arms "Fine, I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me. I was having negative thoughts".

    "No problem" She smiled revealing her dimples.

    I've missed that smile.

    I hugged her "I miss you".

   "I miss you too. Don't ever do that again" She said releasing herself from my grip.

   "I won't. So what's up with you?" I asked as we walked to the cafeteria holding hands. She filled me in on everything, I never knew she lost her job.

   "That means you are officially jobless" I asked with a frown which made her chuckle.

    "Yes, I'm looking for a job though. I couldn't tell mum about it cause there was no possible way of skipping that theft scenario".

    "Victoria planned it, Emelda helped her" I confessed, her eyes widened in shock.

   "How did Victoria get through Emelda?"

   "I don't know. She can get through anyone, she's a snake" I shook my head, trying not to allow Victoria get in the way of completely reconciling with Alice "But I'm glad you are okay" I smiled and she did too.

    "Yeah, I really need a job. I can't let my mum carry all the responsibilities".

   I frowned and looked at the ground. I really want to help Alice, I remembered that my Aunt owned a boutique some distance away from my school.
