"please" Luke choked out as the man punched the limp figure in the stomach. He screamed struggling against the men holding him back "Leave him alone please please please" His face streaked with tears and blood, eyes scared and panicking. "You should have minded you're own business Lucas" and then it all went black.

present day

Luke hated school.
Everything about it. The monotonous teachers, the students who acted as if they haven't seen each other in ages each time they pass in the hall when they just saw each other before the last period. He hated the judgemental looks he would get because why would did it matter if his skin had a few tattoos, ink laced into his skin. He thought the designs were beautiful.
He hated constant flirting of underclassmen girls desperate for a "bad boy". He hated the boys who would secretly talk about him but never said it to his face. He hated how with all the people around him, he still felt empty. He hated being called emo for the bands he lisented to, not that he cared what any of them thought -they all had shitty music taste to him anyways, with all their dumb songs about butts- But he mainly hated how everyone was so happy and cheerful and oblivious to reality. How outside there were killers and maniacs and rapist and pedophiles and natural disaters and diseases.
But he went anyway.
"Hemmings! No phones in my class!"
He hated Mr.Eaton too.
Luke took off his headphones, putting them away with a huff. He looked around the class room and saw a girl staring at him. She smirked at the boy giving him the "call me sign" sending a paper flying across the room.

And Luke couldn't wait.

Ashton loved school.
He loved each and every aspect of it.
He loved to learn new things and teach others old things. He loved seeing all the people, oh my god how Ashton loved people. He loved how different everyone was, the diversity enticing the boy. He loved meeting people who played sports and listen to them ramble on about their favourite team. He loved meeting artists go on about their favourite masterpiece or new piece of work they were doing. The way everything was so so so different and diverse made the boy happy.
He understood that some people were mean and bullied others but he shied away from those people and tried helping everyone. It was a lot of work and yes, there were times Ashton got annoyed with school because of the ginormous amounts of homework but he understood it wa for greater being and helped him become smarter.
He loved after school the most, when he stayed after and watched the preschool through 7th grade kids from the building over.
He got to show them things and play instruments and they all looked like they were having so much fun with Ashton and he loved every moment. Sometimes kids from other school would walk by and Ashton would say hello. There was always the blue-eyed kid he saw everyday.
And he loved that too.
