"What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me?" Steve breathed a sigh of relief before letting out a small laugh, a slightly strained and mad laugh but a laugh al the same. "We won." He replied. A look of relief spread across the inventors face, sighing he rested his head against the ground letting the exhaustion of the battle wash of him. "Alright." Tony said "Hey. Alright. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it." Steve shook his head, of course Tony would be cracking jokes after almost dying. "We're not finished yet." Thor explained, Steve sighed, he doubted they would ever be truly done. "And then shawarma after." Tony said, Steve just laughed shaking his head at the sheer madness of the situation. "Help a guy who just almost died up." Tony said, lifting his arm up for someone to grab. Steve knew that Tony would be milking this for months to come if not years, grabbing Tony's out stretched arm, pulling him to his feet. Except for one moment where it seem that he was going to pass out, Tony seem remarkable fine for someone who had fallen from thousands of feet in the air, still making sarcastic comments about the task to come. "So we need to go capture your crazy brother who just tried to destroy NewYork?" He asked Thor, "Indeed." Was Thor's reply "great!" Tony exclaimed in false enthusiasm. Steve rolled his eyes, Stark was always going to be Stark he thought, turning his eyes back to the path in front of them he saw something odd. There was a child stood among the rubble on the ground before them. The boy looked between the ages of eight and nine, maybe ten, and had curly brown hair, he was looking around as if searching for something with big, tear filled brown eyes. "What's that kid doing here?" Steve asked, bringing his team mates attention to the young boy. The boy must of heard him because he snapped round to face them, his eyes going wide when he saw them. Steve figured that it was the sight of superheroes until the kid called out, "DAD!" And came running over, colliding with Tony. Steve wasn't sure what Tony's response would be, maybe he would push the kid away or just stand there statue still, what he hadn't expected was for him to do was to scoop the kid up in his arms and hug him close. Resting the boy on his hip, Tony stared at him with disbelief, "Peter what are you doing here?" He asked, "school let us out early." The boy, Peter, said. "Were you hurt?" Tony questioned, scanning the boy for any injury's, Peter shook his head vigorously as a response. "Why the hell did you think that coming on to a battle field was a good idea?!" Tony cried, clearly more worried than angry. "I saw what happened on the news." Peter said, his look of saddens being replaced by anger as he hit Tony in the chest, "you almost died!" He exclaimed, "why did you have to fly that missile into space? Everyone was saying that you were dead, that no one could survive that fall! Why couldn't you leave it to someone else for once? If you died I'd be alone."
"Hey now bambino, there's no need to cry." Steve looked at the boy and found that he had tears streaming down his face, his big eyes filled with more. Peter buried his face in the crook of his fathers neck, "please don't do anything like that again." He muttered, "I'll try not to kiddo." Tony replied, holding the boy closer. It was silent for a moment before it was broken by Thor, "man of iron, I was unaware that you had an heir."
"So was I." Steve added. Tony sighed, "yeah, I was trying to keep him out of all this craziness." He admitted. Steve could see the logic behind that, Tony was a famous man so any kid of his would cameras shoved down their throats every five minutes, not to mention that someone could use them to try and get to him. "Right," Tony said, snapping Steve out of his thoughts, "don't we have a crazy god of mischief to capture?" Everybody laughed at that, a laugh that they all needed after this day. Tony went to put the kid down but he only clung tighter, "really," Tony said, raising one eyebrow, " what happened to being to old to be carried around places?"
"If I almost died would you let me go?" Peter asked with a smug tone. "Touché." Was Tony's only reply. As he walked through the rubble of the battle with a god, Tony Stark and Tony Stark's son, Steve couldn't help but appreciate how crazy that day had been. He also probably owed Fury another ten buck.
