OMG, I'm so sorry for the long wait for an update! This was a request from signup29, just a quick warning this is about a school shooting so if that triggers you don't read, if you do read please enjoy!

The avengers were sat in the living area enjoying a quiet day, they had no meetings, no mission briefs and for once nothing was trying to destroy New-York. Looking up from his newspaper Steve saw that the rest of the team were enjoying the quiet, Bruce was reading of some science notes with a cup of coffee in his hand, Natasha was finishing no of her breakfast while watching Sam and Clint battle each other on Mario cart, and Wanda was in the corner practising her control. Steve did note Tony's absence but the millionaire was probably in his lab like he always was on quiet days. So yeah today was a good day. Just as Steve turned his attention back to his paper there was a loud bang from the opposite side of the room, instantly the team was an their feet and ready for a fight with weapons and powers at the ready. Tony came storming through the door way, the team relaxed and looks of aggression were replaced by confusion, "Suit up," he ordered, "we're heading out."
"What?" Sam asked his face reflecting the confusion that the rest of the team felt. "There's a shooter at Midtown school," Tony offered as an explanation, "meet at the cars in five." He said before disappearing of in the direction of the garage leaving his team behind to follow his orders.
That was how the team found them selves driving through New York to deal with a school shooting of their day of, or what was meant to be their day of anyway. As he drove Steve wondered why they were doing this, the avengers only really dealt with world threatening events so why they were going to a situation that the police could handle perfectly fine was beyond him. However what confused him the most was Tony's reaction, the man complained when they had to deal with the smaller tasks so way he had insisted that they come to this was creating a million questions in Steve's mind. Pulling up outside the school Steve noticed that there was a large crowd of students outside the school, clearly the police had the situation under control. Stepping out of the car Steve assessed the scene in front of him, it looked as if majority of the school was assembled outside the front entrance, there was a constant buzz from the crowd with the occasional cry as a parent was reunited with their child. Sam appeared at his side while he was thinking, "you know if we leave now we don't have to deal with the crowd." He said, it was true, it looked as if nobody had noticed the superheroes arrival, their focus on the ground entrance of the school still, "yeah," Steve agreed, "the police have this under control, let's go while we can." The pair walked over to the rest of the team, "police are still inside," Natasha said when she saw to two approach, "they've got the guy but still need to bring him out."
"Ok, I think that we can get out of here then, before anybody recognises us." Steve replied, there was a murmur of agreement from the team. That was when Steve noticed Tony scanning the crowd with a look of urgency, turning back to the crowd he began to look again worried that he had missed something, there were more parents than before and the paramedics had arrived and were taking care of any injuries. As he looked across the sea of people Steve noticed that a boy over to his left, he had blood dripping from a gash on his forehead that was matting his curly brown hair together, and was staring directly at the team. The boy tore himself away from the medics that were fussing over his wounds and took of in the direction of the team, disappearing among the crowd. Steve turned to the rest of the avengers, " Let's get out of here now!" he said, but before any of them could take a step the boy Steve had seen moments ago appeared, pushing his way through the last row of students. Steve had expected him to shout something along the lines of "Hey what are the avengers doing here?!" he hadn't expected the cry of "DAD!" as the boy sprinted over to the team. At the shout Tony had snapped his head to face the boy and the tense look that he had been sporting for the last half an hour faded into a look of relief as he wrapped his arms around the boy who had all but tackled him around the waist. Steve found him stunned into silence with the rest of the team as Tony pulled away from the boy enough to examine the still bleeding gash on his head, Steve had never seen the man take as much care as he did when he brushed the blood matted hair of the boys forehead nor had he seen him look as guilty as he did when the child flinched at the touch. Once Tony had decided that the boy wasn't injured to badly he pulled back into a hug, holding the child closer than before. "Let's get out of here." Tony said, still keeping one arm around the boys shoulders, the rest of the team nodded numbly at the order before turning back to there cars, "you need to sign me out dad." a small voice said. The team stopped in their tracks and turned to find a mildly annoyed looking Tony, "Shit," he mumbled under his breath, "Er, teacher!" he called across to a startled teacher who was holding a laptop, "I'm signing my kid out." he declared, the teacher looked taken aback for a moment before composing them self. "Whats your child's name?" she asked, "Peter Stark, but it'll be under Parker on the register."

"Right, here he is," the teacher replied, "you can go now Peter, make sure you get that head checked out though." with that Tony turned away from the school, leading Peter towards the cars. "You should be proud of your boy Mr Stark," the teacher called after them, "there is a great deal of students who owe him their lives." before she went back to signing out another student. Tony gave his son a proud smile before guiding him into the car and driving of towards the tower leaving the team to follow.

An hour later the rest of the team stepped out of the elevator into the living area and were greeted by a sight they never thought they would see: Tony Stark sat watching star wars with a teenager curled up against him, each of them with a pint of ice cream in hand. "You guys probably want an explanation right?" Tony said without turning around, "You can say that again." Sam said as the joined the pair around the TV. The boy at Tony's side, Peter, was now sporting butterfly bandage's across the cut on his head and his face and hair were clear of blood, Steve didn't want to know how many traffic laws Tony had broken in order to get back to the tower in the time that he did. There was a pause before Clint spoke up, "So, you have a kid."

"Yeah," Tony replied, "Team this is peter, my son." he said, nudging the boys shoulder prompting a "Hi." from the boy. "Nice to meet you Peter," Steve greeted the teen smiling warmly, "the circumstances could be better though."

"You can say that again." Peter replied with a slight laugh. The rest of the evening was spent watching star wars and getting to know the younger Stark until, one by one they fell asleep in front of the TV. The last one awake was Tony who was left thinking about the days events and glancing down at his sleeping son he would be forever grateful that the day hadn't turned out differently and if the worst thing that had happened was that the team found out about his secret son then he considered it a successful ending to the day. Now just wait until they find out that he is spider-man!
