OK, so this was a request from IcyGalaxyFox, hope you enjoy! Also, in this story peter is one years old at the time of civil war.
Steve stared up at the tower as it stretched into the sky above him, looking around him at the rest of the rouges he could tell that they were all thinking the same thing. Two years and the tower looked the same. Other things weren't the same, Steve knew that to well. It had been two years since the 'civil war', as people were calling it, two years since Siberia and two years since the avengers broke up, it had been a long two years. Finally, they had gotten the call saying that the accords had been amended and they had been pardoned, the call couldn't have been more welcome, Steve knew the team was tried of constantly being on the run and just wanted to go home. And here they were, stood out side the tower, not entirely sure what to do. Noticing that the others were waiting for him to make the first move, Steve took a deep breath before making his way towards the entrance, the rest of the rouges following him close behind. They found the lobby to be almost deserted with only a few security guards standing around, it didn't really matter though, they knew the way to the elevator. Once in the elevator the familiar voice of FRIDAY sounded through the small space, "Welcome back rouge avenger, the normal floor I presume?" Steve could have sworn that there was a colder edge to her voice, "Yes please FRIDAY." he said and soon enough they reached the familiar floor. Stepping out of the elevator the team took a moment to look around the space, "This place hasn't change one bit." Sam said to no one in particular, he was right though apart from the odd book the place remained unchanged. Turning towards the living area the team walked in a comfortable silence taking in the comforting familiarity of the place. Turning the corner Steve stopped dead in his tracks, coursing the others to walk in to him unprepared for the sudden stop. However when they say the scene before them their eyes went wide. Tony Stark was sat on the couch, listing to a toddler babble on about something while playing with Lego. "Huh." Clint said, well he made a noise of confusion that pretty much summed up the rest of the teams thoughts. Tony's head whipped around fast, his eyes wide and ready for a fight.
time skip to that morning
Tony was woken up that morning by a very excited three year old, "Come on Daddy, get up!" Peter exclaimed whilst shaking his father to try and wake him up, " get up, get up, get up!"
"alright," Tony said laughing a little at the overexcited toddler, "I'm up."
"Mommy made pancakes!" peter said tugging on Tony's hand, leading him out of the room, "Well lets go then." Tony said swinging the small boy up on to his hip. As he walked down the corridor he couldn't shake the feeling that he had forgotten something, entering the kitchen he set Peter down in his chair before turning to kiss Pepper. "you alright?" Pepper asked, "you seem distracted."
"Just thinking."
"since when?"
"Hey! I think plenty." Tony retorted, shaking his head he turned to his giggling son, "don't I Pete?" in response Peter only laughed harder. After a few minuets of silence where only the sound of cutlery on china could be heard, Tony turned to Peter, "Right time to get ready for pre-school."
"Nope!"
"Yep!"
"Staff training day!" Peter said smugly, yeah he's defiantly my kid Tony thought, "I did remind you last week." Pepper said, that must be what i forgot, "I remember, so what do you want to do today?" he asked Peter. After a moment of consideration his face lit up with an idea, "Workshop!"
"Yeah." Tony said, grinning at his son and reaching across the table to ruffle his hair. "Tony..." Pepper said her voice low and warning, "Don't worry, " Tony said, "I'll keep a close eye on him and Peter will be on his best behaviour, want he?" Peter nodded his head enthusiastically and looked at his mother with big pleading eyes. "Fine." Pepper said "YAY!" Peter cried, "will you come to mommy?"
"sorry sweetheart, I have meetings all morning." Pepper said, "but I'll be here in the afternoon, OK?"
"OK." Peter said a bit dejected, "Don't worry Bambino, we'll have a great time, you and me." Tony said moving over to his son, "Won't we." As he said this he scooped his son, spinning him around high in the air causing Peter to sequel. Pepper laughed at the two boys as they whirled around, "OK boys I gotta go."
"Bye mommy." Peter said, reaching for her. "Bye sweetie, I'll see you at lunch." giving the boy a hug and a kiss on the forehead, Turning to Tony she said "Do not let him near anything dangerous, Do not take your eyes of him, Don't..."
"I know, I know," Tony said cutting her of, "Like I'm going to let anything happen to him." that was true Tony was highly protective over his kid, "OK," Pepper said, "see you later."
"see you later." Tony replied kissing her quickly on the lips before she walked out of the door. Tony turned to look at his son, "Workshop?"
"Workshop!" Peter cried, Tony chuckled as he carried the boy down the corridor to the lab. Reaching the lab Tony pulled up some plans for a small robot that Peter could build, while also pulling up some documents that he could look over whilst keeping an eye on the small boy. Peter babbled on about what he had got up to the day before as the two worked, Tony glancing up every few minuets to check that he was OK. Peter had just finished the story of how on boy had gotten stuck up a tree while playing hide and seek when Pepper entered the lab, "Hey, what happened to the meeting?" Tony asked. Pepper looked at him with confusion and a little bit of disbelief, "It's one o'clock Tony." she explained, "Oh," Tony replied, "so lunch?"
"Yes, lunch Tony." Pepper said shaking her head at the inventor, a look of exasperation on her face. "Mommy!" Peter shouted, his arms reaching for a hug, "Hi baby." Pepper said picking up the boy, giving him a kiss on the cheek, "Look what I built!" he said pointing at the almost finished robot, "That's amazing Peter." she replied making Peter smiled at her praise. "You hungry bud?" Tony said joining the two by the door, Peter considered the question for a moment before nodding his head enthusiastically, "Alright, lets go get lunch." Soon enough the small family was sat around the kitchen island eating lunch while Peter filled his mom in on what he had done that day. It was times like these Tony wondered how he got here, laughing as Pepper fussed over their son, trying to wipe away the chocolate spread that covered the boys face, he was glad that he had. Moving to the main living area, they got the huge box of Lego out for Peter to play with, he instantly began to construct some sort of plane, explaining to his parents every detail on the machine. As he sat there Tony was once again hit with the feeling that he had forgotten something, "You want a coffee?" Pepper asked, snapping him out of his thoughts, "Yeah, please." he replied. As Pepper left to go get the coffee Tony tried to forget the feeling turning his attention back to the toddler who was telling him about the wings of the plane. "Huh" someone behind him said, whipping his head around, Tony was shocked by who he saw. The rouge avengers. That's what he had forgotten. They stared at each other in silence for a moment before the silence was broken by Peter whispering loudly to his father, "Daddy are those the avengers?"
"Yeah buddy, they are."
"I thought you said they weren't allowed back here?"
"Now they are." Tony replied before turning to face the team, "Forgot you were back."he said.
"Who's that?" Clint said pointing at Peter, "Nice to see you to Barton," Tony said his voice heavy with sarcasm, "this is my son, Peter." Peter offered them a shy wave before tucking his face into the crook of his father neck. The rouges looked shocked, "How old is he?" Steve asked, "Three." this made Steve feel a little sick, he almost killed a small boy's father, "look about..."
"Not now," Tony said cutting Steve of "Not in front of my kid." The rouge all nodded, accepting that they should wait until the kid was out of the room. At that moment Pepper walked back into the room holding two cups of coffee but she stopped short when she saw the avengers, "Pepper can you get these guys some drinks while I put Peter down for his nap?" Tony asked her, Pepper nodded her head slowly. still in shock of seeing the team back. Tony smiled at her before turning towards the private rooms and disappearing of down the corridor. Pepper turned to the team, "Who wants something stronger than coffee?" everybody raised their hand.
