As school starts to change to the last class of the day, Asriel and I start going towards our lockers. A pair of bigger kids shove Asriel aside and pin me to the wall.
"You monster lover!" One of them says. "Because of you, we have to share our school with that freak!"
"Why couldn't you just be like the rest of the kids and just die under that mountain!" The other says.
"I think Frisk needs a swirly treatment!" The first says.
"Good idea!" They turn to go, but suddenly freeze in place.
"Boys, leave Frisk alone." An older woman says. "Unless you both want detention for a month."
"No, Miss Godson." One of them says.
"Go to class now." She says and the boys quickly go to their next class. I look up and see Asriel standing behind her leg before running to me and hugging me tightly. "Thanks, Mister Dreemurr. I'm glad you told me what was happening."
"Frisk, I was so worried." Asriel says with tears in his eyes.
"You both should get to your next class as well." Miss Godson says. "Otherwise your teacher will write you both up."
"Frisk and Asriel Dreemurr to the principal's office." A voice says over the intercom system.
"Guess we're going to be late anyways, huh." I say.
Miss Godson sighs and looks at us. "Allow me to walk you to the office."
"Thank you, Miss Godson." I say. "Asriel, stop being such a crybaby."
"Sorry, Frisk, I was just worried that they'd hurt you." Asriel says. "I'll be alright when we get to the office."
After a brisk walk, we arrive in the office and are asked to take a seat and wait for the principal to call us in. Miss Godson says goodbye to us and heads to her classroom. Just as we're about to go into the principal's office, the two boys that pinned me to the wall walk out and give me a smirk that reminds me all to much of a person that I was separated from in the Underground.
"Frisk, Asriel, come on into my office." We hear the principal say and we go to the office. Once in the room. "Will one of you shut the door, please?" Asriel slowly closes the door before we're offered to take a seat. We sit down and he sighs. "I'm not saying you're in trouble, but I just want to know what happened." We Wait a moment. "Those two boys just came and told me that you two started a fight with them out of nowhere, but I just don't see that happening. Both of you have been model students, but being as we have a special case with Asriel, we want to get all the facts and figure out what happened."
"Those two boys pinned Frisk to the wall and started making fun of her." Asriel says. I just look down and let him go. "Saying that they had wished that she died in the Underground. I left to get Miss Godson and came back as they were threatening to give her a swirly."
"Frisk, is this true?" The principal ask me.
I nod. "Every word."
He sighs and says. "We do have cameras, so if you're lying to me, I will find out."
"We're not lying!" Asriel says, sounding as scared as he looks. His body trembling, and his face saddened.
"Azzy, it's okay." I say, hugging him and trying to calm my adoptive brother down. "He can look on the cameras and see that we're telling the truth, there's nothing to fear."
"I just don't want to fail my family." He says softly. "I'm the only chance that any monster has of getting into the city..."
The principal sighs again and says. "I'll take a look at the cameras, one moment." And he quickly pulls up the camera, showing what happened, exactly as we said, and he nods. "I'll call those boys back in here and we'll get this all sorted out."
"Thank you." I say, then help Asriel out of the office and into the hallway. "See, everything worked itself out."
School finishes up and we wait inside for Branden to come pick us up. As we wait, I notice the two boys come walking out and seem to be searching for us. Asriel's signature green shirt with three yellow stripes. My shirt is just as obvious being blue with pink stripes and my pants. As they get closer, Asriel looks at me and I can see the worry on his face.
"Frisk, Asriel." We hear our older brother calling for us, but we stay sitting as the bigger kids get closer and closer, before standing over us.
"There you are, Monster Lover!" One of them says. "You still need a visit to Doctor Swirly!"
"Just leave her alone." Asriel says and gets shoved away.
"Mind your own business, Monster!" The other says.
"Frisk!" Asriel shouts as I'm lifted off the ground and pinned to the wall.
"Let's go, Freak!" One of them shouts before bumping into Branden. "Who are you?!"
He doesn't answer, but turns one's Soul blue and flings him backwards before holding his orange machete against the other boy's throat. "Drop. Her. Now." He does what Branden says and freezes. "Go. Before I change my mind." Without a word, the boy runs as fast as he can out of the school building, and as the other tries to do the same, he's brought back to Branden's face. The machete is gone, but I can see the glow of his red eyes as he looks the kid in his eyes. "If I ever see you, or anyone else picking on Frisk again, you're gonna have a Bad Time. Do I make myself clear?" The boy nods, tears falling from his face. "Good." His Soul now disappears as Branden releases his grip on it. "Go."
The boy runs away and I walk up to Branden. "You didn't have to do that." I sign to him.
He signs back. "No one messes with my family."
"Guys, you know I don't understand sign language." Asriel says and I smile at him. "What are you guys saying!"
"Nothing, Azzy, just yelling at him." I say. "We should get -"
"What the hell is going on out here!" The principal yells at us. "Who the hell do you think you are, treating my students like that!"
"Frisk?" Branden says.
"Principal." I answer him.
"Ah." He answers then glances at the Principal over his shoulder. "So, if you did your job then Frisk wouldn't have to worry about bullies like them."
"Excuse me?" The principal asks.
"It's prin-simple." Branden says. "You Teach students to respect others, and School those that break rules." He shakes his head. "I've heard about you, Principle of Ebott Junior High. You hate monsters, even when one goes to your school."
"That's nothing more then an accusation, which you can't prove." The principal says.
"I don't care to prove it." Branden says. "Just know one thing." He turns and faces the man now. "Anyone hurts my family, Monster or Frisk, you're just as responsible as they are. Meaning I'll hold you accountable for them being harmed as much as those who harmed them." I grab Branden's arm and he sighs. "Asriel, come here." He walks to Branden and takes his other hand. "Have a good day, sir."
Next we appear inside our home and I shake my head. "Do you have to pick fights with everyone?!" I stand in front of him as Asriel watches from behind. "Mercy is an option!"
"Do you realize that I'm not you!" Branden snaps. "I'm not a pacifist, where I don't choose to talk things out all the time. That works for you, Frisk, not me. Not a Soul of Justice."
"Do you just Fight everyone then?!" I shout.
"Just those that threaten my family." Branden says then disappears.
"That's not fair!" I shout, but no one replies for a while. Asriel goes into the other room and starts on his homework and I sigh before following afterwards.
