The Apprentice and I exchange blows back and forth, neither of us really harming the other as I stall long enough to let as many people escape as possible.

"You're only delaying the inevitable." He says. "I will kill all the Monsters and you if it comes to it."

"You won't lay a hand on my friends and family." I say and get ready for another set of attacks.

"I will kill whoever it takes to get my goal accomplished!" The Apprentice says. "You can't stop me!" He drops down and moves backwards. Chasing him down, I find him at the City Hall and immediately go inside to see him draining the mayor's Soul. "I'm going to destroy Monster-kind!"

"Dad!" I hear Sona's voice shout as the Soul completely drains and the Mayor's eyes go completely glossy and he lays there dead. "No! Dad!"

"You bastard!" I shout at him and summon more blasters and bones. "I'm tired of this." His Soul changes blue and I slam him into the ground before pulling The Apprentice to me and skid his body across the floor and hold him down a few feet in front of me as I launch the bones into his back and then the blasters surround him and blast into him. The man isn't phased and I keep blasting into him until his Soul starts to crack. "You're not going to harm anyone else!"

"Enough!" He shouts and I'm staggered backwards by a blast of wind. "I'm not going to be beaten by the likes of you!"

I fly off my feet and watch the man start to summon creatures before destroying the ceiling and flying away. The creatures climb through the room and out the same hole as I get up and go to Sona. "Are you okay?"

"He just killed my Dad!" Sona says and throws herself into me. I hug her tightly and sigh. "Why did he kill my Dad?!"

"He wants to destroy the Monsters." I say. "Anyone he can get a hold of, he is willing to sacrifice to get his Level of Violence up." I shake my head. "What are you doing here?"

"When you left the orphanage, I heard you screaming at someone. When things were quiet, I thought the safest place would be with my Dad in City Hall." She says through her tears. "He's really gone, isn't he?"

"I'm sorry, Sona." I say and she presses her head into my chest. "I have to stop him, Sona. So I need to go." I look down at her pink hair and sigh as she doesn't let go.

"No, don't go after him!" She says panicked and looks up at me with tears in her eyes. "I can't lose you too!"

"I'm not going to die, Sona." I say to her and place my hands on her face to keep her face looking at me. "I have to protect everyone. It's part of my unofficial title for the Monsters. I'm the Guardian, Sona." I let go of her and as I go to get up, she pulls me back and kisses me hard. I pull back and look at her. "What was that?"

"If you die, I won't ever forgive you." She says and adds. "I wanted to kiss you for a long time, but I didn't think it would be like this."

She goes silent and I shake my head. "I have to go, let me take you to the safest place I can get you too." I give her my hand and she takes it before we teleport to the park of the Monster village. "Find a house and get inside. We'll keep you and everyone else safe."

Toriel and Sans run into the village with Asgore and Undyne not too far behind. "My children, go inside, there are creatures coming that are too powerful for you!"

"Frisk, Asriel, go inside with Sona and Papyrus." I say, then step in front of Toriel, Sans, Undyne, and Asgore as the creatures get closer and closer. "Sans, be careful okay?"

"Branden, your eyes are red." He says.

"I didn't have a choice." I say. "Sans, I'll explain later, but trust me, I have to go all out or we won't survive."
