I knock on the door and wait. No answer. I decide I'm not going to do this and open the door. Unlocked. Weird. I walk in and I don't see anyone. Maybe she's in her room.

I walk in and freeze. It's her. She's here. But she's not alone.

"No." She giggles. "That goes there. You got a mint, so you have to go all the way back to peppermint forest." She corrects the stranger sitting next to her on the floor.

"But the guy in peppermint forest scares me. Look at him. He looks like an evil elf." The boy says.

"You look like an evil elf." She teases.

"And you look like a cute little elf."

"And you look like a pencil."

"A pencil? Ok. You look like a... a cute little flower."

"Well... Ok. Thanks." She looks down and I frown.

Who is that boy? Where did he come from? Why is he here?

"What happened to the music?" The boy asks.

"I don't know. It stopped." Julie gets up and looks at her phone. She sets it down and sits next to the boy again as the song 'Viva La Vida' by Coldplay plays.

"So, now what?" The boy asks.

"What are the seven continents?" Julie asks.

  "What?"

"The continents. Carlos can't seem to list the seven continents."

"Carlos?" The boy asks, not seeming to recognize my name. So she never told him about me, I see. Or maybe she has, just hasn't used my name.

  "Yeah, he's my friend."

I mentally scoff. Her friend, I'm your friend Julie? I just got friend zoned by my girlfriend!

Hey, look on the bright side. You're still her friend, even after you called her your ex's name two times.

  Shut up me.

"Oh." The boy nods. "North America." He holds out one finger. "South America." He holds out another finger. "Africa." Third finger. "Europe." Fourth finger. "Asia." Fifth finger. "Australia." Sixth finger. "Antarctica." He holds out seven fingers once he finishes.

  "Thanks." Julie smiles.

"He seriously didn't know the continents?"

"Nope. He's just special." Julie shrugs. "He is special." She looks down at her hands.

  "What do you mean?"

"Carlos, he's special. Not the special you're thinking of. Though, sometimes he can be. But he's special to me."

A smile appears on my lips. So maybe she does still like me.

"I thought you weren't dating anyone."

"I'm not. Carlos is just a really special friend."

  I frown again.

"Ok." The boy nods and looks down at her lips. I stand up straighter and narrow my eyes as I watch them closely. He bites his lower lip as he stares at hers. He leans in slowly and their eyes flutter shut. Their about to touch, right when I purposely clear my throat. I'm not watching the girl I love get kissed by another man.

They freeze and shoot their heads do me. Julie stares at me while the boy wraps his arms around her in a protective manner.

"Why is there a man in your house?" He whispers to her.
