Nobodies POV

Salvatore Boarding House

Rebekah opens the door to Stefan's room and enters. Elena stays at the doorway.

"How fun is this...?" Rebekah ask

She starts opening drawers.

"We shouldn't be here..." Elena says "'Course we should! Come on, like you've never wanted to snoop. [holds up Stefan's underwear] Boxer briefs. A lot has changed since the twenties." Rebekah says

"Are you gonna root through his stuff all night or are you gonna start to tell me your story?" Elena ask "Ah...you really are no fun. What do you want to know?" Rebekah ask

Elena walks into the room.

"Well, Elijah said that your father was a landowner in Europe. How did you guys end up here?" Elena ask. Rebekah was still going through Stefan's stuff.

"My parents had just started a family, when a plague struck their homeland. They lost a child to it. They wanted to escape and protect their future family from the same fate." Rebekah says

"So, how did you end up here? This part of the world hadn't even been discovered yet." Elena says

Rebekah laughs.

"Not by anyone in your history books. But my mother knew the witch Ayana, who heard from the spirits of a mystical land where everyone was healthy...blessed by the gifts of speed and strength. That lead my family here, where we lived amongst those people." Rebekah says

"The werewolves?" Elena ask "To us, they were just our neighbors. My family lived in peace with them for over 20 years, during which time my family had more children, including me." Rebekah says

"You make it sound so normal." Elena says "It was." Rebekah says

Flashback to the 900s.

Voiceover. "Once a month our family retreated into the caves beneath our village. The wolves would howl through the night and by morning we'd return home..." Rebekah says

We can see Rebekah looking at different sorts of necklaces/talismans hanging on a rope in Ayana's window. She touches one (Esther's necklace) and it burns her fingers.

"Ayana, you burned me!" Rebekah shouts "That is not yours to touch." Ayana says

Klaus was screaming outside.

"Mother!!!" Klaus screams "Is that Niklaus? Something is wrong." Rebekah says

Klaus is carrying the dead body of his little brother Henrik.

"Henrik!" Rebekah yells "Mother!!!" Klaus yells

Voiceover. "One full moon, Klaus and my youngest brother Henrik snuck out to watch the men turn into beasts. That was forbidden. Henrik paid the price..." Rebekah says

"No, no!! What happened?" Esther ask "The wolves! I am sorry, I'm so sorry!" Klaus yells. "We must save him. Please, there must be a way!" Esther yells

"The spirits will not give us a way, Esther. Your boy is gone." Ayana says "No! No!!!" Esther yells and clutches Henrik's body

Voiceover. "And that was the beginning of the end of peace with our neighbors.." Rebekah says

Flashback ends.
....

Back in Stefan's room.

"And one of the last moments my family had together as humans." Rebekah says

Elena's phone vibrates, snapping them out of Rebekah's memories.

"You better get that. That'll be Damon checking up on you." Rebekah says

Elena answers her phone.

"Hello?" Elena says "Hey!" Damon says "Damon, where are you?" Elena ask

Damon is in a bar where music is playing loudly.

"No idea, but I'm pretty sure I'm overdressed...Still standing?" Damon ask "Yes, I'm fine, but I can't talk right now." Elena says "I'll be at the bar." Stefan says

Elena hears his voice. "Is that Stefan?" Elena ask "Yeah, I kinda went off a bit. Don't worry. I know what I'm doing." Damon says "Damon! How could you let him out?" Elena ask

....

Bar.

Damon and Stefan are in the bar.

"I got this back, Elena. [he hangs up] What are we drinking?" Damon ask "Hopefully something a little bit warmer...and a little bit blonder..." Stefan says and eyes the blonde bartender behind the bar.

Callie approaches the brothers.

"Hi!" Callie says "Hello...[checks her name tag] Callie. I would love a shot of your best whiskey, and my brother here would love [he starts to compel her] a shot of you." Damon says

"What's the catch, Damon?" Stefan ask "No catch, brother. Drink up. It's on me." Damon says

Stefan grabs Callie's wrist and bites her while Damon leans over to hide them.

"Hi Callie." Damon says

Later.

Damon and Stefan are playing quarters; Callie is sitting on Damon's lap.

Stefan flips a coin into the glass. "Drink up brother!" Stefan says. Damon holds up an empty whiskey bottle. "You get us a bottle of this?" Damon ask

"Yes, sir." Callie says. she leaves. "You been on this bunny diet for a better part of 50 years. So, how is it that Saint Stefan, of all people, is good at a drinking game?" Damon says

"Oh, the bunny diet gave me a lot of time to practice." Stefan says "Hmm..." Damon says

"Wallow in despair." Stefan says

Stefan flips a coin into the glass. "Drown in guilt." Stefan says and flips another coin into the glass.

"Regret my existence." Stefan says and flips a third coin in a row into the glass.

"It's precision born out of tragic boredom. Drink up, brother!" Stefan says "All that effort wasted trying to tell you how boring you are, and now you finally agree with me?" Damon says

"Damon, you are worse than Elena. Getting me drunk, brotherly bonding - what do you think, I'll break down and you can pull me back from the edge, is that it?" Stefan ask

"I happen to like the edge, Stefan! Your problem is your inability to resist falling over it. All or nothing, man. You can't just be." Damon says

Callie comes back with another bottle of whiskey and sits down on Damon's lap again.

"Although, who am I to judge?" Damon ask, he flips a coin and lands in into the glass. "Drink up, brother!" Damon says

Damon holds Callie's arm out towards him.
