Chapter Nineteen: Star Gazing

Obi recollected the incident at the school farm and a huge grin spread across her face.

She had kissed a boy!

Never in her life would she have guessed that she would kiss Obiefune. The boy who has caused her more trouble than her own little bundle of trouble Tobe.

Obi buried her face into her hands recalling the sweet sensation from the kiss. What had gotten into her? Most of the novels she read described the act and she had even picked up certain things unconsciously. What would explain her bold move of wrapping her hands around Obiefune's neck.

They had been studying the human body in Biology and she did understand that certain behaviors were innate.

Was it a primal instinct what Obiefune had done when he was kissing her? He had slipped his hand into her blouse and would have.. ".

Obi couldn't finish the thought and even buried her face deeper into her hands to shun her embarrassment. The first time Obiefune kissed her she was repulsed by it, but today only thoughts of what they did kept flooding her mind. She even told him that she liked him, such confidence from a girl who barely spoke.

"Did you mean what you said before? I just want to be sure that you haven't changed your mind" Obiefune had asked her for the umpteenth time and it was becoming rather annoying and sweet.

"Okay, I like you Obiefune" Obi declared again with her hands still intertwined in his.

Obiefune flashed her another one of his charming smiles " This is much better than the first one, you're not still thinking you are sure now". Obi's eyes met his and he winked at her.

"You know I used to think you hated me, I've always liked you, you know. It's so funny because the day I saw you at our house running from Tiger" he began to laugh

"Your dog?" Obi pointed out and he nodded

"I thought she was going to rip me to shreds, thank God you were there to save me and I didn't hate you at first, I just became uncomfortable especially after your series of pain infliction"

Obiefune began to laugh remembering every detail "It was very amusing to watch, then you fell down and I had to step in. She wouldn't have bitten you though, Tiger's all bark and no bite"

Obi scoffed to his statement, the canines on that dog as it barked at her were not preaching the same thing, infact all she saw was bite, bite.

"So you were there all along? And you didn't bother to stop your dog till the last minute"
Obi stated glaring at him

"I didn't know it was a damsel in distress, I'm not particularly fond of my sister's friends. But I when I walked to that place and helped you up. I just knew that I loved you"

Obi froze for a minute not quite sure if she heard well, he continued so she didn't bother to ask him about it
Call it fate, if you want but it's true.
When I asked Chioma about you, she said you were her friend and classmate and I decided that boarding school was no longer for me anymore. You saved me without even knowing iheoma"

Even though I had gradually decided I couldn't attend again, you helped me make the final decision . Obiefune's face hardened as he finished the last statement and Obi assumed that he was upset because he had always wanted to be around his parents.
Obiefune cleared his throat and continued, boarding school must have dealt with him so much.

Obi gently squeezed his hand to reassure him.

"Sometimes being considered handsome can be a curse, I used to enjoy getting attention when I was younger, girls swooning, mothers telling me that I'd marry their daughters" he paused and laughed
