What is mental illness?
A mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person's thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Just as diabetes is a disorder of the pancreas, mental illnesses are medical conditions that often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life.

Mental disorder - It's one of the many things a writer should think before making his/her story. Hindi mo na lang pwede basta-bastang sabihin na may sakit sa utak ang character mo kaya siya pumapatay. A writer needs to justify the actions of his/her character. Everything about your story should be "believable". Hindi normal sa isang tao ang pumatay ng tao, o ang maging bayolente sa kapwa, diba?
SW Beagle took the initiative to research some of the most commonly used mental disorders in writing Mystery/Thriller Stories, what they really are and the symptoms a person may experience when suffering from the said disorder.
