An accident usually is an unfortunate event provoked by different circumstances, but in this case it was a strange episode of luck in the unfortunate lives of the Baudelaire children.
After the early discovery of Uncle Monty's dead, Stephano that in reality was Count Olaf in disguise had planned to take the children to Peru, where it would have been harder for them to be found. So after the "kidnapping" of Sunny Baudelaire the children didn't have another choice than to go with the brummagem assistant. It wasn't until Monty's Jeep collided with another relatively small vehicle that the Baudelaires found their struck of good luck.
"The next time you drive look where you're going." Stephano said to the other person involved I. The small car accident with his normal voice instead of his high-pitched one.
"Excuse me, but it was all your fault!" A voice the Baudelaires knew too well said trying to get out of the smoking car indicating that the engine had been affected.
"Mr Poe!" Violet screamed in excitement which was mixed with commotion after such event.
"Violet Baudelaire is that you?" Mr Poe asked in disbelief as if his eyes weren't telling him the truth.
"Thank god, I'm for once so happy to see you" Camille mumbled under her breath, hoping Mr Poe wouldn't hear her, because as her parents taught her it would have been impolite to show someone that you did not like them very much.
"Yes it is me" Violet said still with commotion in her voice.
While Violet and Mr Poe talked, Klaus as clever as he was he decided to take this chance and grab Sunny out of Stephano's reptile skin suitcase.
"But where are your other siblings?" Mr Poe said coughing into his now dirty handkerchief. "Oh, here they are, Klaus and little Sunny!""And who must you be? You're not Dr Montgomery." He said referring to the strange man with long beard.
"Hi! I'm Stephano! I'm Dr Montgomery's assistant." Stephano said to Mr Poe putting back on his glasses completing his pathetic disguise. "Well, was, i was Dr Montgomery's assistant." He said with now fake sadness crossing his face.
"In name of the bank... what do you mean by was?" Mr Poe said worried. "Did he fired you?, and where were you going with the Baudelaires?"
"Oh well, you see, Dr Montgomery has passed away." He said again with the lacking of true sadness."Goodness me, how did he died?" Mr Poe asked with melancholy. "Children are you ok?"
"He was bitten by a snake" he finished. "I was on my way to the coroner's office to look for a Dr, obviously the children were too hysterical to be left alone in a house with a dead body."
"No Mr Poe, we're not ok! And he wasn't taking us to a coroner. He was taking us to Peru." Klaus said nervous.
"What? Wha....? See? Hysterical. Stephano said as if he knew absolutely nothing about what Klaus was saying.
"No, the children must be confused. Dr Montgomery was taking them to Peru." He said taking out of his jacket the four passports. "Last night he called me to insist on me rearranging my morning itinerary to bring them these passports."
"He'd want me to have them." Stephano said taking the passports from Mr Poe's hands.
"Can't you see Mr Poe? He's Count Olaf in disguise." Camille shouted after. "It's clear to anyone with eyes!"
"Yibbomalt" Sunny shrieked. Which probably meant something like "he closed me inside of a suitcase to make my siblings follow him."
"Who am I? What am I doing?" Stephano said as if he was the most confused person in the world. "don't you miss the vivid imagination of childhood?" He asked Mr Poe nervously chuckling.
