Sam POV:
There was a rustling in the leaves. He and Gabe sprang apart, only to find nothing there. No one. Sam smiled at Gabe. He leaned back in, kissing him deeply. Their tongues battled for dominance.
"Sam. What do you think you are doing?" His dad yelled. "I can't have a monstrosity like you in my house!" Sam cringed away. Gabe was gone. The only sign that he had ever been there was Sam's swollen lips.
"I'm so sorry, dad. I was just-"
"Really, Sam? You know, you aren't supposed to be like this. I never wanted this for you." His dad shook his head. "Your mother would be ashamed."
"You're all alone now, Sam. I'm done. You have too much baggage. We tried to make it work. But it wasn't enough." Gabe was behind him. Where had he come from?
"Gabe I- what?" Sam was shocked. Where was this coming from. Both his dad and Gabe in the same night?
"Sorry Sam. I just can't do this anymore." Gabe turned and walked out the door. He walked away. Sam sank down to his knees. He began crying.
"You're so pathetic. Even Cas and I got away with it, Sam. Only someone as pathetic as you would get caught by dad." Dean snarled.
"How could you do that to Gabe? You guys had a fight! And you had to go be the asshole that gets drunk at a party and cheats. That was my little brother you hurt!" Cas yelled, wrapping his arms around Dean.
"I-I would never! I wouldn't! I didn't!" Sam yelled. Why did no one believe him?
"Give up Sam. You're worthless." Dean spat.
"Pathetic." Cas snarled.
"I'm better off without you." Gabe shook his head.
"You are not my son!" John yelled.
"STOP! Please!" Sam sobbed. He curled up into a ball on the floor, screaming. Everything hurt. He was worthless. Maybe he should leave. Go far away. No. He would still hurt someone, somehow. He was toxic. He screamed-
"SAM!" He jolted awake. He felt tears in his eyes. Everything was blurry. He looked around, seeing nothing but blurs. "Sam come on!" Huh. Sounded like.... Gabe. Suddenly, everything blurred into focus.
"Gabe? I- you left- I- what? You were gone... gone... why?" Sam looked around, panicking. "Let me go. Gabe get off of me. Now!" Sam thrashed around.
"Woah there Sammy. You're okay. I'm right here. Focus on me." Gabe soothed. Sam felt himself go limp. He sobbed, realizing it was just a dream.
"Gabe- I- I'm so sorry. I'm sorry." Sam clung to Gabe's shirt, crying.
"Shh, I'm here. It's ok. I'm not going anywhere." Gabe shook his head briefly. "Go back to sleep Sammy." We can talk about it in the morning." Gabe tried, but Sam shook his head.
"Will you get me some water?" Sam asked. He hoped it wasn't to much to ask of Gabe.
"Of course, love." Gabe went to the sink and grabbed some water. Sam downed it eagerly. He just needed a moment to process, that was all. He hadn't had a nightmare that bad in months. Why tonight, of all nights? "You done?" Gabe asked. Sam just nodded, not trusting himself to speak.
Gabe took the cup back to the sink, and then came back and put his arm around Sam. He leaned into Gabe after a moment. "I'm sorry." Was all he could say.
"Hey- don't apologize. It's okay." Gabe smiled softly down at him. "Do you want to talk about it?" Sam shook his head, before changing his mind.
"It was everyone. Saying all these things- I know they aren't true- they aren't true but it felt... it felt so real. I didn't do it, I know I didn't do it but how do I know? How do I know that you don't hate me and that Dean doesn't think I am a disappointment and that my dad doesn't know about us and I hurt you!" It took all of Sam's willpower to not start crying again.
"Well I can prove all of those things. Dean is so proud of you. He tells Cas all the time. Your dad hasn't even met me. How can he know?" Gabe began. "And me? You haven't hurt me at all. And I certainly don't hate you." Gabe tilted Sam's head up towards his.
"Really?" Sam couldn't stop himself from asking.
"Really." Gabe leaned down and kissed Sam on the cheek. "In fact I feel the exact opposite." Sam tilted his head in confusion. "I'm saying that I'm beginning to fall in love with you." Gabe elaborated.
"Gabriel..." Sam began. "I'm beginning to fall in love with you too." Gabe pulled him into a hug. It didn't take away the pain, Sam realized, but it soothed it. It soothed it a little bit.
