It was 8 pm and Pidge was driving home. He was nervous and jittery. His hands were very shaky as he moved the stirring wheel left and right. A billion thoughts were running around in his brain, they were restless. His legs kept jumping and he became a bit sweaty from the uneasiness. His eyes were hopping from one place to another. His breathing intensified and his heart was constantly beating. Scared was the feeling, the feeling that made him feel like he was choking on sin and anxiety.
He pulled over to the front of his house, the house he had grown up in ever since he was born.
The rooves were white but in the dark, they appeared blue. Some parts seemed chipped. They needed to get repaired. The family had always planned to restore it together.
Pidge wondered if his family members had always considered themselves as a triangle instead of a square.
The walls were mint green. It was a pretty color. A long time ago, back when the therapist was just a kid, Matt had noticed that the paint that was used before had a certain texture to it which made the surface feel bumpy. This bothered Matt so with the help of his younger brother, they created a smoother liquid to coat with. Their parents redid the dividers and they've been creamy and leveled ever since.
He was gonna miss those memories.
He took a deep breath and opened his car door. He decided to leave all his stuff inside his vehicle since it wasn't necessary to bring anything. He put his hands in his pockets and walked towards his home. He felt uncomfortable and afraid of the near future. He rubbed his eyes and blinked several times before realizing that he was close to the establishment.
Standing outside on the porch, was his whole family.
He saw that almost all of his belongings were packed into 2 suitcases. He didn't own that much. If anything, he owned very little. All the technology he had built for the past 10 years, were just stuffed into pieces of luggage. For some odd reason, this made him feel like he was stuck and shrinking. But then again, what else was new?
The bags were in front of his dad, who looked sad and upset. He was staring down at the grass and was trying to avoid eye contact with everybody. His mother, on the other hand, wore a sassy expression on her face while crossing her arms. She was probably angry since she couldn't kick her son out of the house sooner. She gave off this nasty and toxic vibe, unlike his brother who seemed uncertain and indecisive about this situation. He kept fidgeting and mumbling two words, "I'm sorry." He pushed up his glasses and looked up.
The older sibling smiled when he saw his younger relative. He ran up to him and hugged him real tight, "Pidge!" He teared up, "Pidge... I'm so sorry..."
As much as it confused him, Pidge hugged him back. "Hey, Matt. How are you?"
"What do you think? Sad, obviously! I don't want to see you go!!"
"I don't wanna go... but I have to. Mom and dad won't let me stay. It's probably for the best. You can all be happy together without my annoying-self bugging the picture..."
"But that's the thing! You're not annoying! You're the best thing that's ever happened to me!"
"You are too! I don't know where I'd be without your support. You've been such a big help."
"If only I could help now! I'm so fucking useless..."
"You're not useless! You're perfect! You're the best brother I could've asked for!"
