Chapter 22 : Confused

LISA'S POV 

"It has been a long time Jennie." 

I was shocked when Taeyang reached out his hand to Ruby Jane. I was even more surprised to see that he called her by her middle name. That means they must be close, but why didn't she tell me about it? She didn't know her friend was the owner of this hotel? I looked at her and found her particularly nervous. I never saw her in this state and I was starting to doubt their bond because I could see the look in Taeyang's eyes, it was different. Maybe it was her first boyfriend and I didn't like the idea and I didn't know the reason.

"It's nice to see you again, Tae." 

Am I dreaming or did she just call him by his nickname? I was stunned because it was happening right in front of my eyes. 

"How small the world is! So that's why you absolutely wanted her to be the model." Sungjae playfully hit his shoulder and he chuckled. 

Of course who doesn't want Ruby Jane as a model, she's damn perfect for everything. 

"Maybe we could have something to eat tonight... both of us. I'm sure we have a lot to catch up on." 

"I-"

"I think Ruby Jane... I mean Jennie, needs to rest. She just spent the whole day in the sun getting her picture taken and I'm sure she'd like to enjoy her evening." I cut her. I was trying to say that in a professional tone because on the one hand, I didn't want Ruby Jane to notice that I was slightly irritated and on the other hand, I didn't want to be rude to the hotel owner who asked me to do important work, and I was thankful for it. 

"Exactly, I think a good Thai restaurant will do her the world of good." he took the same tone as me but he had more difficulty controlling his pissed off face, "If Thai food is still your favorite, of course." he turned to Ruby Jane confidently and raised his voice at the last sentence to make sure everyone around him heard it correctly.

Yes, everyone heard that. We are not deaf. 

"Instead of knowing who's right, why not ask what Ruby Jane wants?" Junhoe interrupted our small arguments because he was certainly feeling the heavy tension. I don't know what I'd do without this dude, he was so much the right man for the job.

"Thank you, Junhoe. Taeyang, as Lisa said, I've been working all day and the only thing I want is to sleep..."

I bit the inside of my cheeks to avoid laughing in front of the poor man's broken face. What was he going to expect? Ruby Jane has no mercy when it comes to refusing an invitation. At least you know you shouldn't waste your time because she'll never give you her attention.

"... but I'm willing to accept your invitation for tomorrow."

I told you she has no- wait what?

"Perfect. I'll pick you up when you finish your shooting." before he left, he had a mischievous smile and winked at me. I take back everything I say, I'm absolutely not grateful that he chose me for this job because all he wants is Ruby Jane.

"Okay guys, take back all the equipment! That's all for today, you can now enjoy the rest of the day!" Sungjae shouted and clapped his hands to speed up the team that was putting the cameras and cables back in the bag. We had to hurry because we had booked the site for a few hours since we are in a hotel so there are guests. I looked for Ruby Jane and saw that she had already gone to the make-up artists to clean and change. So I decided I'd talk to her about it until she's finished because I don't want to look like a desperate idiot who wants to know all the things in her private life. We may have been physically intimate but now that I realize, we don't know each other in depth, we've always discussed basic things and it didn't bother me, but that was before.
