Chapter 34 : Dinner

RUBY JANE'S POV

I was mentally arguing which outfit was the most appropriate. My intention was not to steal the spotlight from someone but instead, I was going to be as simple as possible. After long minutes of reflection, I decided to opt for a simple T-shirt with a minimalist Chanel logo in the center and combined it with a boyfriend jeans. Sitting in front of my mirror, I applied my foundation and fix make-up from Urban Decay's brand. I was literally imagining myself making a YouTube video about makeup. A few touches of eyeliner and ending with a vibrant red lipstick on my lips, I was finally ready. Satisfied with the result, I could already imagine the face of Lisa when she came. As I don't have a car, Lisa offered to pick me up even though I told her that taking a taxi didn't bother me. She will remain a gentlewoman under any circumstances. 

The screen of my phone turned on. Lisa had arrived but I told her to wait for me in her car to save time. I quickly put some perfume before leaving the room, making sure that I had turned off all the lights and took the English cookies stored in a typical English box that I previously bought because I wouldn't want to be seen as an ill-mannered. 

Tonight, it wasn't the girl who was working, the one who couldn't help but blush every time she saw Lisa. If Lisa wasn't my target, I would have advised her to make a move instead of being a teenager who only dreams about her crush.

"Good evening Ma'am!" the boy with glasses stood up standing up like a guard. The young man took his work too seriously, but it's probably because it's his first day. In a few weeks, I'm going to find him playing on his phone without paying attention to the people who come and go. In fact, if a robbery happens in this condo, we'll know who to blame. I replied with a smile before heading for the exit where I saw Lisa standing against the door. This person was simply delicious to look at and to eat. It's the first time I've seen her wear something casual but the kind of style a student would wear. She had a black hoodie and jeans that were wider than mine. Her white sneakers were different than last time, as if she were collecting the white pairs of each brand.

"Hey."

"Hey, ready?" although I wasn't really fond of eating in the company of her wife, I had to go because if I refused, her wife would have taken it as a victory.

"Let's go." I softly said. Lisa was a few inches taller than me even if I wore heels but I guess I find this difference pretty cute. I was about to open the door of the car when Lisa stopped me. I looked at her confusedly waiting for her to say something but she didn't say anything, she just stood there looking me through the eyes as if she was looking for an answer. Perhaps I would have preferred that tonight she would have come to pick me up and take me to date but being different, my story was not the same.

"Have I already told you how beautiful you are?" I playfully looked at her and crossed my arms, "What?", she started to giggle seeing my face. 

"Why do you always have to say that kind of thing at unexpected times?"

"I thought you liked unexpected things." she shrugged and copied my position with the arms crossed. 

"I don't remember mentioning it. Do you have any other surprises in store?"

"Yep." she leaned her face and pecked my cheek. A heat wave set in my cheeks. I suddenly had a hot flash as it was cool tonight. 

Oh God, don't tell me I was blushing.

"If you're wondering if you're blushing, yes I can confirm it." she smirked. I was blushing even more with her comment.

"You're a demon."

"And you're a devil but a sexy one." she winked before she brushed her nose in my neck, "And she smelt damn good." 

"Shut up Manoban. I wonder what you ate for being so cheesy. Plus, you're sexy devil bought some delicious cookies." I pretended be annoyed and sat in the car trying to avoid blushing more than that. It was already embarrassing that she saw this new side in me, I wasn't used to being so... cuddly? I put my thoughts aside when Lisa put on her seat belt and started the car. She connected her phone to the loudspeaker and a playlist from the British rock band, 1975, played.
