LISA'S POV

It must be the craziest thing I've ever done in my life, but after a few days of finding out that Ruby Jane had gone to America, I managed to get a flight to New York for three days, I can't stay long since I have still work to do. Although no one could tell me where she was heading, I had a strong feeling that she could only go to New York and nowhere. I remember that her parents live there and I now regret not having asked for their contact details because they probably know about their daughter.

I was lucky to find a house next to the studio. Indeed, a family had decided to move and as soon as I saw their ad, I immediately contacted them. The house size was more or less the same as the previous one and the main advantage was of course, that it only took me a minute to get to the studio. I didn't even need the car anymore. With the help of Jisoo and Rosé, we were able to set up the place in a few hours despite the fact that it required a lot of work. It was difficult to explain to Lia why I was suddenly leaving. Yaya and I understood that it was time to talk to her about it and explain the situation. Of course Lia had cried. It was not a simple thing for a child to see his parents separate when a few days ago they seemed to get along well. It was definitely unexpected for her.  Concerning Yaya, she remained cold with me but I knew she was still having a hard time accepting our break-up but it was for our own good. Honestly, our separation is not so easy for me, but I knew it was useless to force our relationship and I would rather end it now before it gets more complicated. We might even lose our remaining friendship.

The most important thing is that my heart now belonged to someone else whose I am about to go after and bring her back with me. This explains, in part, why I am now sitting in the plane with only one carry-on bag.

Yeah, that's crazy.

When I boarded the plane, I began to doubt my sudden decision. I hadn't thought about how I would proceed as soon as I arrived. I had no plan and no information to find her. I was looking for her, instinctively.

I certainly looked white as a sheet since the flight attendant thought I had a phobia of planes, she asked me if I needed a glass of water or switch places. I then tried to ease my nervousness by putting on my headphones, which were provided. Maybe a few movies can distract me during these long flight hours. I'm sure I'll find a way to find her, I'm confident.

After a long and endless flight, I had finally arrived at my destination. Without delay, I took a taxi to my hotel. I was going to take a nap for a few hours before starting the search. I may have taken first class, but I still couldn't sleep a wink. While my back pain was not yet healed, I now had knee cramps. I don't know if it's with age, but I'm really starting to worry about my health. Anyway, I arrived quickly at the hotel, whose staff took care of me as soon as I arrived. When my whole body came into contact with the softness of the mattress, I fell into a deep sleep that I didn't even have time to take a shower.

Fortunately, I had set an alarm clock or I was never going to wake up. When I woke up, I suddenly became optimistic and was extremely confident that I would find Ruby Jane again. I then thought of visiting all the libraries and bookstores in the city. In total, I had more than 150 establishments to go to. I would show a picture of Ruby Jane asking them each time if they had ever seen her since I know she spends her life in these kinds of places. I thought I could do at least half of the list but I had completely forgotten that I was in a huge city and that the traffic was tremendous even with public transport. At the end of the day, I ended up with 15 places made. Some thought I was investigating a special case because I was asking them hundreds of questions but no one had ever met her before. Yet I didn't lose hope because I had the feeling that she was close, so close to me.

I finally got back to the hotel because it was late. Moreover, the booksellers and libraries had already closed so it would have been stupid for me to continue my research. I got dressed before going to dinner in one of the hotel's restaurants. I made a phone call to Rosé to ask if everything was going well there. She told me she met Bobby at the hospital when she was visited by Yaya's father. The bonds between them had also changed, it had become awkward with him, we didn't really know how to react to the situation yet. Although it saddened me, I knew that I had probably lost my best friend even if it wasn't my will. Unfortunately, things make it impossible for us to be the same as before.
