A Twist of Fate - Later That Day

I heard the alarm speaker blare out the lyrics to 'Helter Skelter' and rolled onto my floor.

"Oof. Damn you floor." I reached up and smacked the snooze button.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned loudly. Thomas was staring at me from the top of my 'looks like a tornado just mauled your pillow fort' fort. I stretched onto my bed and looked at the clock. "Ehm hem. Eleven o' clock........ ugh." I picked myself off my bed and went to investigate a scratching sounds at my door. "Come on Thomas." Thomas was like my bodyguard. Always following me.

I opened my door and looked at the brown eyes staring up at me. "Oh alright you mutt." The dog barked and wagged his tail. He started hanging around my house after I 'accidentally' left some food out after my mom told me not to. I found him amusing so I kept him around. He was like clockwork: at eleven o' five he'd come around to my house and wait for his food.

I placed a bowl of cereal by his feet and watched him messily dig his nose into the corn flakes.

"Oh you little mutt don't eat it so fast."

He made a muffled sound that I took as a bark.

"Hello little girl."

I stood up and said, "I'm not that little."

"Point being?" He laughed.

I looked down and noticed that the dog had run off, having done with his cereal. I picked up the bowl and went into the kitchen. I placed it in the sink and came back into the living room.

Went over and plopped down next to the kid. I remember the day I first met him. I took about memorizing every detail about him, as I do with other people I meet.

I remember looking him up and down: Think reddish-brown collar length hair, a freckle on his cheek. About 6'1". Dark brown eyes thats rivaled my own.

My hair was a few inches short of waist length and dark, dark brown. Except on the tips, which had a reddish color. I was about 5'6" 5' 7". I felt extremely short compared to him.

"What not going to get dressed?" He looked me up and down.

"Posh." I turned to him. "What's the point."

"Well it is mid-fall. And I was hoping we could go for a walk."

Now let me stop you right here. We're NOT dating. Okay? He's just the only friend I've got.

I looked at him, sighed, and went to my room to get dressed.

I pulled out my black-ish skinny jeans and white long sleeve shirt (w/ black vest) and threw them on. I was halfway out of my door when I remember shoes.

I grabbed my grey knee-high Chucks and pulled them on. I ran into the bathroom and brushed my hair and teeth.

I came into the living room and said, "Ready."

He stood up and handed me my scarf. I wrapped it once around my neck.

I pulled the door shut as he stepped outside. I opened my mouth and drank in the crispy air.

I sang out, "Mary, Mary quite contrary watch her garden thrive--"

"Until the cops found the seed of a rather odd weed--"

"And now she's doing three to five!" we called in usion.

I jumped off the steps and fell down. "Owwwwww." I fake cried.

"Ohhh Miss Lucy you must be more careful." He mocked in a british accent.

I grabbed his hand and pulled myself up and said, "But Sir James, one musen't be too careful..."

We both started calling at the top of our heads, "For if the one is one and two is three then if you're too careful you'll lose your MBE!"
