A Twist of Fate- Sea of Lavenders

I pushed through the crowd, creating a path for Capitain Reynolds. Cat curled his tail around my neck and occasionally glanced back at the capitain.

We passed through East Citi as fast as possible, and West Citi with admirable ease. As we approached South Citi I grew doubtful of myself. Wondering if it had just been my imagination, Cat disagreed and said that I had no room to doubt myself, not now at least.

We slide through Gate and started for the hill. I could hear the water softly flowing as we neared the top.

I pulled the captain up and he said almost in a whisper, "Oh my god."

"You see now? You must evacuate the city."

Reynolds put his walkie-talkie up to his mouth and mumbled some orders. I caught the words: problem, danger, Citi, evacution, order, and now.

I heard a commotion from behind and turned around. The civilians were fleeing in all directions. Left and right I saw people rush out of the gates.

"Lucy." Cat whispered in my ear. "Look. To the left of Gate."

I squinted hard and I nearly fell backwards, my mouth agape. A figure stood at the entrance. The figure, was my mother.

"Mom." I said, though no sound came out. I wasn't even sure if I moved my mouth.

I felt my legs moved under me. Starting at full speed down the hill. I heard Captain Reynolds call out, "Hey! You can't go down there! We're evacuating! HEY!"

I felt like myfeet weren't even touching the ground.

As I drew closer I sawher turn towards me and her eyes filled with disbelief.

"Lucy!" she shreiked as she embraced me. I felt warm tears run down my neck and back before getting absorbed by my shirt.

For a long time we didn't say anything, we just hugged. Finally she pulled away and said, "Oh Lucy. I thought.... I thought you were dead."

"I could say the same for you." I sniffed.

She hugged me again.

"Lucilia. Come with me. We can go home now! Together." she smiled, which made it harder to tell her the truth.

"Mom.... We can't go back to Terrine. It and the Merli flooded..... I'm the only survivor."

I watched her smile fade away.

"I knew this would happen one day. I knew it. Your father wouldn't believe me."

I felt Cat readjust on my shoulders.

"Oh what a cute cat!" my mom said and picked him up. I heard him growl, he hated people. "Oh well...... probably rabid." she placed him back on my shoulders.

Then the ground started to shake, as if it was an earthquake, only it what centered in...... the Merli.

"Mom we need to get out of here now." Before she could protest I grabbed her hand and pulled her up a nearby hill that went into the Merli.

I looked back and watched as the stream of water turned into a full scale flood, sweeping Citi and the escaping remaining residents away.
