A Twist of Fate- Power of One
I pulled at my pockets for the lavenders, but they weren't there; They were floating towards the top of the water.
I tried to contact Cat, tell him what was wrong, but I could no longer speak.
Lucy. Come back up.
I tried to respond but all that appeared were bubbles which followed the lavenders to the top.
Lucy.
I felt the water choke around me.
Lucy!
His voice started fading away. My muscles were weak but I tried anyway to push myself towards the surface. I couldn't move and I slowly sank to the bottom.
Lucy. Lucy listen to me. You have to try. You have to Lucy you have got to try.
My eyes started closing slowly. I could hear my heart slow down. I counted the beats:
Thump thump.....thump thump...........thump....thump....................thump.......................................thump.......
As the last beat of my heart rang, I felt a sudden warmth all around me. It started out dull, then it grew, and grew, and grew. It started pulsing with a steady beat. I could hear my heart, louder now, beat with it:
Thump........thump.....thump....thump..thump thump...thump thump...thump thump.
My eyes shot open and I took a huge gasp of air. How I do not know, but considering the circumstances, I didn't want to figure it out. What I wanted was to get out of this mess.
Lucy? Are you alright?
Uh...Uh yea.....Yea I think so...... What just happened? It was almost like--
Magic?
Cat, stop showing off your mind reading skills.
I wasn't.

I pulled myself onto the grass and looked out at the water as if I had just escaped a killer shark attack. Cat sat by my head as I lay down.
"What did you mean by that?"
"I meant what I said."
"So what happened down there.... really was......."
Cat nodded. "Magic. That is how we can talk to each other through our minds. It's an ancient magic. Long forgotten. I am one of the withholders of this magic."
"So... How did you become a cat?"
He sighed. "It was a very,very long time ago. In a kingdom. A kingdom in which the King ruled over every in of the land. Every house and store, every tree and river, was his. I know what you may be thinking, but he wasn't a selfish king. Far from it, actually."
I sat up and turned to Cat.
He said," The kingdom was in great condition, but also great stress. As the queen had died giving birth to her only son. The king, after five years, had married again. Nobody had known of the bad things this woman was doing. Only the son had seen what she had done: Cursing the town so crops wouldn't grow, spreading the plague. Thousands of people died.."
Cat shuddered, his dark fur shining in the sun. "The King died shortly after the plague had ended for reasons nobody knew. Once the son turned twenty-one, he would be king. The kin's wife was furious, saying the crown should be hers. The council did not agree with her, saying only if the son were to die would she be ruler."
"She killed him?"
Cat looked up and said, "The woman knew she wouldn't be able to kill him and go unnoticed. So she set a curse on him. Cursing him to live throughout the remainder of time in the very form of a cat."
I looked at Cat, my hair curling as it dried in the sun causing it to get into my face.
"You were the prince....Weren't you.."
Cat looked away.
I started crying, couldn't help it.
"How can we change you back?"
"The woman.....She said that I have to come backwhen the tears ofmotherhit the flames of the universe. When I do, I will change back. But I couldn't understand it."
"Tears of mother?Mother....Mother........Mother Nature! Rain, Mother Nature's tears are rain!"
Cat looked at me. "How did you....?"
"Flames of the universe...... fire..... Sun! The Sun! So.... We have to get to where the rain meets the Sun? Wait...... Rain goes into the ocean..... Then theocean is pulled by a tide..... The tide is cause by the Moon...... Solar Ecllipse!!!! We have to go back to your Kingdom on a solar eclipse!"
I started smiling wide.
"But there's only one problem." Cat said. My smile disappeared.
"My Kingdom was destroyed."
