Part Two- A Spiral of Destiny
The waves lapped over the hill and wetted our shoes, sending a chill up my spine and countering the heat from the sun above.
A wave came up and slammed against my knees. I lost my balance and tumbled backwards. I sat up as another wavs hit and threw me off the hill entirely. I heard my mother call my name before the water drowned her out and I was pushed into another, taller, hill. Closing my eyes I waited for the water to rushed off me. It felt just as it had when these waters pulled me under before, if not worse.
It seemed like minutes before the water cascaded downwards, relieveing the pressure off my body. As the water recoiled I felt gravity take effect as I free falled along the side of the hill. I opened my eyes and jabbed my fingernails into the now-moist hillside. I tried to catch my breath but as I did the ground loosened around my fingers and I lost my grip. Everytime I grabbed at the grass I seemed to fall faster. As I started losing my grip on a rather large weed, a wave worthy of midget- tsunami status smashed against my back, throwing my head first into a rock, and knocking me unconcious.

The waves started settling down as the sun grew nearer to the horizon. I felt a wave gently caress my cheek and disappear, leaving the chill feeling of water on me.
I moaned and opened my eyes. A glare caused me to flinch and blink furiously until the spots disappeared and I could see once more. I gave up on trying to push myself up with my hands, because everytime I tried to my hands slipped and I fell again, and I letgravity do my bidding, pulling my upper body forward as I slid my legs sideways across the ground, which wasn't exactly level after the water carved through.
I looked around wearily at the once city turned lake. Citi was in shambles and all that was left of the water which had destroyed the city, was a shallow beach-like pool. I got to my knees and looked at my reflection in the water. A dark haired, dark eyed girl covered in mud from head to toe looked back at me.
The warm sunset mixed with the cool water felt lovely as I attempted to rub the mud off me as best I could. For some reason I felt horribly guilty for dirtying the water like I was, but I ignored it, for I had more important matters to deal with: Finding shelter before night fell and the end-of-fall frost came.
As I sat on my knees and my freak-the-fuck-out mood started settling in, I heard an engine in the distance. I sat and waited by the water and sure enough a rescue truck came around the corner. When it was around ten meters away it stopped. I saw two figures talking to each other, then looking back at me, then back to each other, then back at me. this went on for a good few minutes before the men came out of the cab and approached me.
"Ma'am?" said the first man.
I batted my eyelashes a bit, refusing to talk considering I just realized my mother was nowhere in sight.
"Are you alright? Is everything okay?" said the second.
I contemplated answering, but in the end I just sat there and looked sad, which would be correct.
They exanged words then the first man said, "Ma'am, we're gonna take you somewhere safe, alright?"
He grabbed my arm and gently, or a man's version of gently, pulled me to my feet and lead me to the truck.
"Sorry for having to make you sit in the back, miss. We just don't have any room up front."
I nodded and he helped me into the back of the truck where a figure was curled up in a corner of the truck bed. I sat as far from the figure as possible and a million things ran through my mind when the engine started up: Where was my mom? Oh god. Where was Cat? I made a promise to help him. I can't very well help him if he's missing! Or worse! Oh Cat you better be alive.
The truck started gaining a lot of speed and it hit a speed bump, which sent me and the figure out of our comfortable spots and up into the air, and down again onto the hard, hard, HARD, metal of the truck bed. As the figure scooted back into his corner I noticed something about him: He had the reddest brown hair I've ever known, and the dark eyes the matched.
"James." I whispered.
