Kamal stared at the message Aman had sent him for almost 5 minutes.
"Should I reply? Am I going to lose her?" All these thoughts clouded his mind at the same time. He was not ready for the worst but he knew he had to have faith. "Sure Princess." He simply replied and her message came through almost immediately. It was as if she had typed it waiting for his response.
"It's about us, Kamal I don't want to lead you on. I don't want you to think I'm going to get married immediately. I love you but I'm not ready to settle honestly. If you cannot wait then I want us to let each other go. I don't want us to remain unhappy and constantly fighting over something we both won't change our minds about. But if you can then please let's stop this marriage talk and be patient with one another."
He could feel his heart beat faster and faster as her read her message. Was this the end of their 3 years ? He had never bothered Aman with this because she was in London studying and he didn't see much of her unless when she came back for her holidays, he knew he was possessive and jealous but he always tried to control it and now that he decided to show all his feelings she was running away ?
Kamal couldn't understand this. He decided not to reply till he saw her brother the next morning.
Khaleefa lived in between Kano and Abuja these days, as work always brought him to Abuja, so when Kamal texted him saying he would like to meet up in the morning he knew he had to stay in Abuja and hear what his friend had to sayXxx
"Khaleefa bro! Thanks for meeting up with me! I'm in a really bad place" Kamal said at he sat down. They decided to meet up for brunch at metro cafe because they were both not morning people.
"Always. Is she acting up again? Or are you becoming weak?" Khaleefa asked his friend sarcastically.
"I cannot become weak. Aman said if I won't wait for her then we should let each other go. Since you're going to Kano later, will you talk to Maama for me? Maybe she can force her or something." Kamal said.
"Hmm force ? Maama is all about giving ladies their voice Kamal. She will never force Aman or anyone to get married. She can even send me away if I say something like that. But maybe you should back off a bit. I mean she can't let you go. She knows you're perfect for her." Khaleefa replied.
"Alright bro, try and get me into the good books. You know I'm not much for this women's empowerment rubbish." Kamal said making silly quotation signs in the air.
They had their brunch and Kamal took khaleefa to the airport after Asr silently praying that there was a way for him to get Aman back on his side, but for now, he knew he had to let her go, so as soon as he left the airport he replied her message "Maybe we should take a break for a while and think about what really is best for us both. I will always love you - K!"Xxx
Aman, Maryam and Haleema were on their way to Kawu(uncle) Isa's House when Kamal's message came through. She said a silent prayer to Allah for guidance and the best of choices before telling her sisters what had happened "Kamal agreed to a break" she simply said.
"Allah zaba abun da yafi maki (May Allah choose the best for you)" Haleema said.
"Ameen" both Maryam and Aman answered.
