Aman turned to her side slowly.. she was already sure who that voice belonged to. She couldn't believe what was happening.
"Kamal, yes. It's me. Erm, how are you?" She replied playing with her scarf nervously.
"I'm okay, I didn't even know you were in Kano." Kamal said, making things even more awkward than they already were. When he noticed the person sitting next to Aman staring at him, he asked if they could exchange seats and somehow he willingly agreed.
"Please Aman, let's talk. I'm going crazy" he said eagerly after getting seated.
"Kamal, please I'm already going through so much and I'm not exactly in the mood, I just want to have a relaxing and quiet flight. Please let us not do this, especially not here" Aman said, almost snapping at him. She could now feel her nerves rising.
"Alright, we both need the silence I guess" he said bitterly. He felt so angry and himself for even approaching her. He had been waiting for her to come crawling back to him, now here he was, practically begging and she's giving him cold replies... Never again he thought.
"We shall see" Kamal inwardly said, he had to make her suffer in one way or the other and that was a promise he had made to himself.

Aman managed to avoid looking at Kamal or his direction the entire flight. She put on her eye mask when she felt tired of staring at the clouds but she couldn't get a wink of sleep. She felt like she could still feel his angry eyes on her. She didn't know this Kamal, the man she thought she loved always had soft eyes, but she was frightened for herself just the way he spoke to her.
When they landed in Abuja, Kamal didn't bother looking at Aman's direction. He even walked past her after he got his bags and didn't attempt to help her out with hers.
As she was greeted by the driver, Aman was still shocked by Kamal's behavior that she only managed to mumble what seemed like hello back to the driver.

When the car was driven into alhaji Mohammed's house, Aman was so deep in thought that she didn't realize they were home.
"Madam, we're here. Do you want me to open your door?" The driver said, noticing she wasn't herself so he got out and opened the door anyway.
"Oh thank you. I didn't realize we're back home" she quickly said and he responded with a light smile.

"Madam, well done. How was your journey? I hope madam Haleema and everyone are fine? Do you want to eat or you prefer to rest?" Monica blabbed on happily when Aman got into the house.
"Everyone is fine Monica, no I want to rest. Is my father around?" Aman said uninterestedly.
"Erm I don't know ma, I just came back today also but I've not seen Oga. Do you want me to ask?" Monica replied.
"No that's fine" Aman replied already halfway up the staircase. She was so tired that all she needed was her bed. She decided to pray, then take a long bath.

Aman had just finished praying Isha when she heard a knock on her door. She was so tired but she managed to drag herself to the door.
"Daddy ina wuni? I didn't think you were around" Aman said with a wide smile.
"Yes my dear, I just came back and I was wondering if you would like to join me for dinner before bed but if you're too tired, it's okay" Alhaji Mohammed said warmly noticing the eye bags beneath her eyes.
"No daddy, I'll be right down" she replied closing the door behind her.
Aman didn't realize how hungry she was till she took a bite out of her salad.
"Slow down young lady. The food isn't going anywhere" alhaji Mohammed said teasing her.
"I didn't realize I was this hungry, I think fatigue got the best of me" Aman said stuffing her mouth with some more salad.
"How was Kano? I want to hear everything" alhaji curiously said. He knew how hajiya Ameena's relatives were so he wondered if they were up to any mischief this time around.
"Well the usual daddy, it was amazing but ammi's relatives are still obsessing about marriage, they're not happy about me going to Lagos and abba's wife was horrible to us" Aman replied, trying to sum her stay in Kano up in the nicest way.
"I'm really not surprised. I expected all these things" Alhaji Mohammed said pouring himself some chicken soup.
They continued to talk about Kano and work for almost two hours before Aman headed back upstairs. She couldn't wait to get some good sleep
