Aman was too pissed to say anything so she passed her phone to her sisters. They were shocked to see that it was a message from Sameer.
"Salam miss Mohammed, please report to the office on Monday morning as your duties will begin then. You start work a week earlier than regular staff - Sameer Aliyu Abdullahi."
"Waittttt Sameer expects you to resume work on Monday? That's six days from now. We weren't even supposed to go back to Abuja till Sunday. What does he mean?" Haleema said equally as angry as Aman now.
"I don't understand this man, why didn't he tell me since? It's now he wants to send me this, what if I wasn't prepared?" Aman said rubbing her forehead as if it would ease her anger.
"I'm just still surprised that one of the most eligible bachelors in Nigeria is your boss Ya Aman. I mean I can guess why you're upset about him not telling you about this.. but if I were you,
I'd be super excited to start learning from him. He must be a thrill to work for." Maryam said not completely understanding the situation at hand.
"We don't talk about him like that" Haleema pinched Maryam while saying the words through her teeth so Aman couldn't make them out.
"Oops, I'm sorry ya Aman" Maryam said rubbing the pinched spot.
"I don't care if he's the most eligible bachelor in the world, he's definitely not a thrill to work for and I'm definitely not excited to go learn from him. He's mean and doesn't respect me or my schedule." Aman said angrily and Haleema rolled her eyes.
"Ya Aman please calm down. Try and get some sleep and we can discuss this tomorrow with Ammi" Haleema said.

Aman tried her best to get some sleep but all she could think about was her arrogant boss. Does he enjoy making me suffer? She thought. She simply could not understand how he could not even cut her some slack. I mean I'm just a corper aren't I? Why does he need me to come in a week early? Why was he texting me this himself anyway ? Doesn't he have an assistant to handle such things? Why was he hell beamy on making her suffer?
Then she thought about how all three of her parents would definitely be on his side and she dared not beg them for that extra week. Looks like I'm going to be a Lagosian sooner that I thought she said to herself.
Aman looked at her phone and it was about 4:30 in the morning, she knew it was late but she still had to text her best friend.
"Salam babes, my bossy boss has decided I have to come into work a week earlier than expected. Hang me already" she texted Muneera and she texted back almost immediately.
"It's more of bittersweet for me. Glad you're coming but a bit angry at his decision to be honest. I'm sure Abba and Mamiey will be thrilled you're coming. Love you lots"
Aman read the message from Muneera and she suddenly felt like everyone was happy about her going to Lagos sooner, except her. Maybe she just had to suck it up and go she thought as she got up to perform her ablution.
After she prayed her salat and woke her sisters up. She decided to retire for the night

The next afternoon, Aman and Haleema were on the table having lunch when hajiya Ameena came into the house.

"Salam, how are my girls?" Hajiya Ameena said as she sat on the table.
"Good afternoon Ammi, we are okay. How are you?" Haleema replied.
"Good afternoon Ammi, did you see the message I forwarded to you?" Aman eagerly asked. She was dying to know what her mother thought of her starting work on Monday.
"I am fine my darling. Aman, thanks for asking too, I'm fine" she said to Aman sarcastically.
"Yes, I saw Sameer's message. I have called Alhaji and hajiya Zainab, since she won't be back from London till next week Saturday, I shall take you to Lagos but for now, you have to go back to Abuja on Thursday so you can start packing. Haleema, Maryam and I shall meet you there on Friday." Hajiya Ameena said with a comforting smile.
"So I'm really starting on Monday then? I can't believe I only have today and tomorrow with you guys. It sucks Ammi" Aman said sadly.
"Sabr Aman, sabr (patience). It's sad that you only get 2 days with us but aren't you excited to see Muneera? Lagos might not be a bad idea. You might enjoy your experience there. Trust me. In a few months we might be begging you to come back" hajiya Ameena said hugging her daughter.
"In sha Allah(If Allah wills) that's what's going to happen Ya Aman" Haleema said also joining the hug.
"What's going on here? Is there a hugging party without cousin Maryam?" Maryam said quickly joining the trio.
"We don't know any cousin Maryam here, if you say sister Maryam then we know her" Aman teased. They never referred to Maryam as their cousin, she had always been in their house. Whether it was for holidays or after she moved in. She just fitted perfectly with them so they stopped trying to make her feel left out as Ammi called it. Her parents even made jokes about how they lost a daughter who was found in Kano every time they visited them in Jigawa.
