chapter 8 : An unexpected visit (Bella's pov)
We had just come back from school, I was all excited at the prospect of seeing my grandkids, and I know I had seen them just this morning, but high school is bad enough the first time, the other ones, boring doesn't even begin to describe it. Anyway, I was all excited to see my grandkids when Carlisle calls a family meeting in the living room, ”I had a phone call from an old friend today. Benjamin and Tia are coming to visit.”
”And you called a family meeting for that, personally I think they're cool, plus they stood with us so what could possibly be wrong?” Emmet said going back to play with the kids.
”We do have 2 additions to the family who are not vampire. I was thinking about their safety when I called this meeting.” Carlisle answered, not in the least bit surprised by Emmet's reaction. Even Jacob, who thinks practically of nothing except protecting his kids and his wife, did not understand what the danger was.
”But they stood with us to defend Nessie, they said they were ready to fight. Clearly they're not going to hurt them.”
”No, of course not, that's not what I meant. But there is more than one way in which they could endanger them. The way I was thinking of was just by knowing they exist. You see, Benjamin is on Aro's radar, he is likely to get a visit from him at any moment. If he knows about them, Aro will know at some point, and even if we manage to keep Michael from using his power on him or Tia, their existence alone could be extrapolated into a threat by Aro or Caius.”
”yeah, I thought about that, Marcus doesn't seem to care at all about power, or anything really. What is he even doing in the counsel?” Emmet asked, and honestly I was kinda glad he did, because I didn't understand either.
”Well as you know he is talented, and his ability to read emotional ties is very useful to Aro. Also, his wife was Aro's sister, so they are quite literally family, and since his wife died a long time ago, I suppose Aro is all he has left. But on that point I'm just guessing. Of the three ancients he always appeared to me as the most just, so in a way we can count ourselves lucky that he is in the counsel. But as for the matter at hand, Jacob I think that you should pay a visit to your father at La push, I'm sure he'd love to see his grandkids and daughter in law.”
'Great, no awesome really! how long am I going to have to wait until I see them again. I can barely take one day.' Edward looked at me with a smile before adding.
”Also, that will allow Alice to get her sight back. That way we will be able to anticipate any problem that might occur. there is a plus side to everything, and it has been a while since we've last seen them.”Edward said.
”I know, if only they had come before I got pregnant, I would have liked to see them.”
”Plus side shmlus side, I want to see them grow up, who knows what we'll miss while they're gone.” Rosalie echoed my thoughts almost exactly and was quickly followed by Alice
”Who cares about a stupid sixth sense if I can't see the two most beautiful children in the world.”
So basically it went from ”yay Benjamin is coming” to ”crap why doesn't he just stay the hell in Egypt” in a matter of a few minutes. But we all understood the situation, so Nessie and Jacob went up to their room to pack their bags, and left an hour later to pay a surprise visit to Billy.
