chapter 10 : We didn't see that one coming
(Rosalie's pov)
It was about a week since we had come back from Forks, Nessie and Jacob were hunting with Michael, the three boys were patroling the area making sure they didn't have any unwanted spectators, and Alice and I were playing dress up with Olivia in the backyard/forest. Or at least we were trying, she was growing up to be as bad as her grandmother, no interest at all in designer clothes. She was in her underwear, sitting about 10 feet away from us when it happened. A magnificent eagle landed just next to her, close enough for her to touch it, but she was just staring in wonder. Jacob had shared with us his observation that she seemed to be a magnet for animals, but this was just unreal. I have taken more than a few biology classes in my existence, and wild eagles just don't do that. They remained staring at each other for a while, nobody made a sound, not Olivia, not even Alice and usually she doesn't shut up. Then suddenly the eagle took off, and Olivia stood up still staring at it, and for a moment I thought my eyes were playing a trick on me, but she turned into a small eagle and went away flying to meet up with her new friend.
(Renesmee's pov)
I was hunting with Jake and Michael, both of them were in wolf form. From the first time, Michael had always been hunting in wolf form, it seemed more natural to him. The downside of this was that dad couldn't read his or Olivia's mind, as it turned out it was only when Michael shifted that the shield was up. It was tradition that when the feeding was over they shifted back to their human form so we could talk like normal people, so they did. A minute later Dad was here asking Michael ”How is you sister showing you this?”
What could she possibly be doing that would put him in that state? and if the problem was with her, why didn't he go to her? ”What is she showing him dad?”
”Well, unless I'm having hallucinations, it looks like she's flying.”
I was not expecting that. ”Flying! is it true Michael? Of course it's not, how could she be flying?”
”Yes it's true mom, she was talking to an eagle and then she started flying like him. It's pretty from upthere!” He said with a big smile on his face.
”Sweetie, can you ask your sister to come back to the house, we'll meet her there.” And once he agreed we started running toward the house where we met Alice and Rosalie both bewildered and crazy with worry.
”You are never going to believe what just happened. We're so sorry, but there was nothing we could do” They said together, completely histerical.
”Oh we'ready to believe just about anything, Michael just told us she was flying. But if she listens to her brother she should be here soon. So calm down.” I said, trying to ease their guilt.
”But she turned into an eagle! How did she turn into an eagle? I thought it was just wolves.”
When Olivia finally came back, she landed right by her brother and phased back to human form then asked ”Why do you all look so worried, I was having fun!”
”Nevermind why we're worried” I said, ”how did you turn into an eagle?”
”How do I turn into a dog? I don't know, I just talked with him and then I wanted to go with him and so I did.”
”You didn't talk, we didn't hear anything” Rosalie intervened.
”in my mind, sort of like I do with Michael.”
”You know what I was wrong, shapeshifter is so much better than werewolf. Man my kids are awesome!”
