Gosh, I really don't like walking through these halls. It's like trudging through a body of water, one that's current pushes in the opposite direction of where you intend to go. But at least I have Luke and North as my anchors to tether me back in the desired direction, so there's no possible chance I could drown. I hold Luke's hand on one side and North's on the other, while the latter carries my bag and the former carries my notebook. Despite my futile protesting, they took everything, anyway, deciding I shouldn't have to carry it all myself, like it weighed a ton, or something. Always so dramatic, these boys of mine. Especially Gabe. But that's why I love him.

But seriously, there are way too many people at this school, especially for its mediocre to moderate size. And most of the people don't smell too good, either.

Regardless, we finally make it to the classroom for Homeroom, and I blow a sigh of relief. We all find our seats near the side of classroom in the back, Luke in front of me while North sits behind me. North sets my bag down by my desk and Luke sets my notebook down on top of my desk, along with my pencil. I smile at both of them as they take their seats and start to converse. The two chat while I sit and listen happily, enjoying just watching their conversation unfold. No matter how ridiculous that conversation may be. And it is.

"Yeah, but I think Iron Man is so much cooler than Hulk," Luke declares.

"Whatever, Iron Man is basically just the Batman of Marvel, but his suit is cooler. Whereas Hulk is really strong, can heal really fast, has great stamina and speed. I mean, is there really even an argument?" North argues. My head goes back and forth between them as they continue their debate.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Sang agrees with me. Don't you, cupcake?" Luke asks, turning to me. My eyes widen, not ready to be asked this question.

I quickly write, "I don't actually know what you guys are talking about. I just think it's entertaining to watch."

Both of their eyes bug out as Luke practically shouts, "You've never seen an Avengers movie?"

I shrug. "I've only ever seen a few movies that I actually remember, like The Shining, The Breakfast Club, Tangled, and one about a giant bear teaching you how to potty. I don't remember the name of that one, but I'm pretty sure I watched it when I was around four. It was pretty creepy, anyway, so I wouldn't mind never remembering. Tangled is my favorite movie, though. I used to love singing the songs."

"Wow, we really need a movie marathon soon. I say we do that this weekend at Nathan's. After we take you to meet Uncle, of course," North announces. I tilt my head in question at the name. He notices and explains, "He's our uncle that owns a diner. He's a great guy and we've been meaning to take you to meet him."

"Yeah, and he has the best chocolate chip pancakes!" Luke exclaims, getting a few strange looks from the students in the class. Well, if there's pancakes, I'm in.

I nod enthusiastically as North just grumbles behind me, making me smirk a little at his annoyance. I think it's cute how he's such a health nut.

Just then, the smell of cigarette smoke, menthol, and cheap cologne wafts through the room, and my body becomes stiff with anxiousness. Greg goes to this school? Did he mention that when he was practically harassing me? I can't remember, but I seriously doubt it.

"Hey, darlin'. What're you doing here?" If I could, I'd say something like: Um, I don't know, looking for an education. Something you clearly know nothing about. But I can't, and that really irritates me, right now.
