We arrived at camp, and they opened the gate for us. It was called camp Jaha. What an awful name. Why don't they just put up a statue of the man who killed my parents while they're at it?
As soon as we stepped inside, guards rushed over and took our guns. My brother spotted me immediately, running over and pulling me into a tight hug.
"I'm glad you're okay," he said.
"Is this your brother?" Octavia asked. I nodded.
"This is Octavia, the girl I was talking about," I told my brother.
"You seem to be a badass," Lucas said, almost impressed.
Octavia smirked, clearly proud of her reputation.
Before I could say anything else, Clarke came out of nowhere and ran straight into Bellamy's arms. My mind raced with questions. Where did she come from? How? And, in the middle of all this, I realised Bellamy and Clarke would make a cute couple.
"Now, there's something I thought I'd never see," Octavia said, making me chuckle.
Clarke pulled both of us into a hug.
"How many are with you?" I asked her.
"None," Clarke said, and our smiles dropped. "Where's Finn?"
"Looking for you," Bellamy answered.
-
"What? No, you can't just cut them loose," Clarke protested.
Abby had just told us she wasn't going to send a search party for Finn and Murphy. Of course she wouldn't. Clarke was back, so now she didn't care. Bellamy and I stood behind Clarke, listening to every word.
"We don't have the manpower to send out two rescue missions and protect our camp," Abby said.
"Mom, they're in trouble," Clarke argued. "They're either gonna get killed or make things worse with the Grounders, who we need to get our people out of Mount Weather."
"I know you feel this is unfair, but our priority has to be with Chancellor Kane if there is any hope for peace," Abby responded.
Kane? Hope with Kane? The man who ordered Laila's execution? Anger burned in my chest.
"If you wanted peace, you shouldn't have killed the Grounder who was gonna help us," Clarke shot back.
"I'm sorry," Abby said flatly. "The decision's been made."
She turned to walk away, but I couldn't hold my tongue.
"You're sorry?" I stepped closer, making sure everyone could hear me. "Finn and Murphy are out there looking for your daughter with guns you gave us. And now that she's home, you're just going to abandon them?"
Bellamy shot me a warning look. He sighed before stepping in.
"If you can't spare the guards, we know the terrain," he said, backing me up without pushing too hard. "We have a map. We can do it ourselves."
