"We've been locked up for hours. If it was Bellamy-" Miller started, but I cut him off quickly.

"It was Bellamy. I got in here with him, okay?" I said, my voice firmer than I felt. He nodded, but I could tell he was still worried. So was I.

Suddenly, the alarm blared again. The door slid open, and a wave of tension hit the room as 10 guards entered, armed to the teeth. The doctor was with them, her expression unreadable. My heart pounded. I hoped Bellamy was still out there, doing his part of the plan. I had clearly messed it up already.

"Everyone, back against the wall," one of the guards barked.

We all obeyed, though fear made my legs shake a little. The guards moved with precision, like they'd done this too many times. They grabbed Harper first, and she started to struggle, panic in her eyes,

"No, not her," the doctor said suddenly. "She needs more time to recover."

She scanned the group, then pointed at a boy I barely even knew. "This one."

They dragged him away without a second thought. I clenched my fists but didn't move. We couldn't risk it, not yet.

The doctor turned to leave, but Jasper stepped forward, his voice sharp. "Stop! You can't keep doing this to us."

She looked back at him, calm but cold. "President Wallace said we could go," Jasper added.

The doctor raised an eyebrow. "That President Wallace is no longer in command. He had to step down for health reasons."

I frowned. "Oh, sure. That just happened now?"

She glanced at me briefly, annoyed, then ignored me entirely. "I'm sorry it has to be like this. I hope you know you're all incredibly special to us." Her voice was like poison wrapped in honey.

The doors slammed shut behind them. Silence fell.

About two hours later, it all happened again, like deja vu we didn't ask for.

The alarm blared. The doors opened. Same guards. Same weapons. Same cold faces.

"Back up. Against the wall!" one of them shouted.

We didn't move right away. Jasper looked at us, his jaw set.

"Here we go," he said under his breath. "Come on, like we talked about."

The doctor walked in, calm as ever. Her eyes scanned us like we were just pieces of meat in a lineup.

"This one," she said, pointing toward Monty.

It was like a switch flipped. Everyone started shouting, pulling, pushing. Guards shoved forward and we pushed back. For a second, it was complete chaos.

Somehow, through the mess, I caught a glimpse of the hallway, and there he was. Bellamy.

He didn't say anything, but he didn't have to. He gave me one look, one nod, that said everything: Hang on. I'm close.
