We were all standing outside, waiting. The tension was thick in the air. Then Bellamy's voice broke through it; loud, urgent.

"She's back!"

Someone shouted about opening the gate, and Clarke came walking in. The second I saw her, I bolted. Finn was right beside me.

"Are you okay?" he asked her, but she didn't stop moving.

"Shut the gate!" she yelled. "You can't be out here."

She grabbed Finn's arm, pulling him inside. I rushed in behind them, confused and a little scared. Before we were in, Abby hugged Clarke. People crowded around her, but something about Clarke's face, it wasn't good. She looked wrecked. Lucas appeared beside me.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"I don't know," I whispered.

"What did she say?" I heard Abby ask. "Is there a chance for a truce?"

Clarke hesitated. Then finally: "Yes."

So why did it feel like everything was falling apart?

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

She looked straight at Finn. "They want you."

My stomach dropped. No. No way.

"If we want a truce, we have to give them Finn."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Raven snapped.

"That's their offer," Clarke said quietly.

"That's not an offer," I shot out, my voice rising.

"It's a punishment," Finn said. "For what happened at the village. Blood for blood."

"That's insane," Bellamy muttered.

"If we refuse..." Abby started.

"They attack," Clarke finished.

"I say we give him up!"

People around us were starting to shout. Someone stepped up, too close to Finn.

"Give him to the Grounders."

"Back off!' I yelled, pushing the guy hard. Bellamy jumped in, holding him back, and Clarke grabbed my arm.

"Aaliyah. Aaliyah, hey, listen to me. Nothing's going to happen to him. I promise, okay?"

I looked over at Raven, hoping she'd back me up.

"I hate this just as much as you do," Raven said, stepping closer. "But we can't fight them. Just ... stay calm. I promise, we'll find a way."
