Chapter 1

Nova was excited for it to be her 18th birthday because she would finally be able to find her mate. A knock on her door brought her out of her thought, she stood and walked over to open the door, "Beta Tate," she bowed slightly, "how may I help you?"

"The Alpha and Luna wish to speak to you in his office."

As she followed Tate her wolf began to become restless. And soon as she walked into the office and met the Alpha's eyes she knew why. He rose from his desk and walked to stand in front of her, she bowed, "Alpha Max."

He gripped her chin lightly and pulled her up so that she would look him in the face, "I'm sorry I didn't wait for you Nova." This made her and her wolf even sadder as she whimpered.

Luna Riley cleared her throat, "Please Nova, sit," Nova pulled away from Max and took a seat, she didn't understand how she could be the Alpha's mate. Max and Riley had been together since before Nova was even born they even had a son a few years older than her, Nova knew they weren't mates, everyone knew that, "Now Nova, I know you are probably hurt," Riley spoke softly, "and confused."

Nova nodded not looking up to meet the gaze she felt, her wolf was crying on the inside. "Nova, we did not mean to hurt you. We were together even before you were born. Max and I know that it's impossible to keep an Alpha away from their mate and he has been doing it for so long. So we have a proposition for you that you can choose to refuse."

Max placed his arms on his desk, moving himself closer to his mate, "You can live with us and accompany us to any events. Me and Riley have discussed it and we think it is the best choice for everyone."

Nova let a tear escape at that till a thought came to her mind that had her wolf begging her not to say, "Alpha Max," she lifted her head to meet his gaze, "can't you just reject me?"

Max growled "No!"

"I suggested that to him myself," Riley spoke as she reached out to calm her bonded mate, "Nova I know it is a lot to take in, but we would keep this all very private. Max wouldn't even take me up on my offer to break our bond so that you two could be together."

Nova gasped, "Luna Riley, you would have done that for me?"

Riley nodded her head, "I would do anything to keep my pack members happy."

Nova stood, "I'd like to think everything over." They both nodded, as Nova walked over to the door as she was walking out she heard her mate wish her a happy birthday.

Walking down the hall back to her room, she was shocked to find her parents in her room, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!" they yelled running over to grab their daughter into a hug.

She giggled at them and hugged back, "Thank you guys!" Nova spent the whole day with her parents and couldn't keep her mind off her mate.

When she returned to her room later that night after her parents went to bed, her wolf was whimpering to be near her mate. She changed into a pair of pajamas and got into her bed. A knock on the door brought her attention away from the loneliness that she was feeling, getting out of bed she walked to the door.

"Alpha Max, what can I do for you?"

"Just call me Max, and my wolf, he could feel that you couldn't sleep. I came here to see if I could help."

Nova looked up at her mate, "Thank you but I think I'll be okay." She went to back away and shut the door but he stopped her by putting his foot in the doorway.

Nova met his eyes once more, "Just till you fall asleep, then I'll go." She sighed before moving and letting him enter her bedroom, he looked around as she just stood by the door.
