Chapter 10

Max headed into the ballroom looking for Nova, he walked over to Jared who sat alone looking defeated, "Where is she?" 

Jared shrugged, "Not sure she walked out with a guard about an hour ago, think she asked to go to your room. She shut me out, won't even give me a chance." 

Max growled in frustration and ran out of the ball room, up to their room. Opening the door he took a deep breath as he saw she was sound asleep in her dress. Max pushed off the door frame, shutting it before heading over to Nova, "Come on Nova. You have to get out of your dress."

Nova rolled over and looked up at Max, "Is Riley okay?" 

Max sat next to her on bed taking his shoes off, "Yes, she was just tired. She is heading to the airport now." 

Nova sat up, "How are you feeling?"

Max looked over at Nova , "I am good. Better now. You should really get out of your dress if we are going to sleep."

Nova nodded sliding out of the bed, "Can you unzip it please?" Nova felt the cold air on her back as she held her hand tightly to her dress, "Thank you."

Max watched Nova reach into her bag and then into the bathroom. He quickly got out of his suit and into his pajamas before Nova came out. Max laid in bed as Nova crawled in next to him, he turned to her, "What happened with Jared?" 

Nova looked up at Max, "I just don't trust him fully. It was like he was trying to force getting to know me. I am just confused about everything. I know everything is going to be thrown upside down tomorrow. Can we just have one last normal night?" 

Max didn't say anything for a minute, "You need to give Jared a chance. He might make you happier then I make you, so you need to explore that."

Nova woke up and tried to untangle herself from Max but when she did she hit her wrist, "Ow." 

Max woke up quickly and looked around the room his eyes settling on Nova who held her wrist, "What happened?" 

Looking up at him she shook her head, "It's nothing, just an accident yesterday."

Max slowly grabbed her hand and lifted her sleeve revealing a bruise of a hand. He growled, "Who did this?" She didn't answer him as she pulled her hand out of his grasp.

"An Alpha wouldn't dare touch another Alpha's ma- Jared, he did this?" Nova again didn't say anything and that gave Max his answer. 

He growled out and got out of the bed and rushed to the door, Nova ran after him trying to stop him, "He didn't mean it! Max it was an accident." Max was banging on the door not listening to Nova, when it opened she had to think quickly. 

Nova stood in front of Jared, Max looked down at her, "Nova, move!"

"No!" Max growled again and went to grab Jared around Nova, "You hurt him I feel the pain. Don't believe the book then hurt him and watch me go through pain." Nova stepped away and Max dropped his fist.

"What is going on anyway?" Nova looked over at Jared, her wolf pushing her to go to him, she took a few steps forward and wrapped her arms around him. 

Max lightly growled, "You hurt her, were you trying to break her wrist when you grabbed her that hard?" 

Jared put his arms around Nova, "No, I just wanted a chance. I let go when she said I was hurting her."

"Come on, let's go back to our room Nova," Nova didn't let go of Jared. 

Max sighed, "Jared please take her down for breakfast when it's called for," he nodded and went back into his room with Nova in his arms.
