Chapter 6

The pack children were not allowed to attend school for the first half of the week but by Wednesday everyone was back on their normal schedules. Nova was in the back of the car while she let Kyle and Jazz sit by each other. Nova cracked her back as she got out of the car, "I really hope he lets me sleep in a bed tonight."

Jazz shrugged her shoulders, "Are you still uncomfortable with the whole thing?" Nova nodded as she looked towards the house.

As they got back to the house Nova was about to head up the stairs when Riley stopped her, "We need to go get you a dress for the Alpha Ball. Ask Max for his card and then come back down here so we can go. I invited your mom to come with us. Oh and ask him what color for your dress."

Nova nodded and headed to the office, opening the door she dropped her bag, pulling her wallet out and waited for Max to be done talking to Tate, "What's wrong Nova?"

She shook her head, "Nothings wrong. I need a dress for the Alpha Ball still so Riley sent me up here to get your card."

Max nodded and pulled his wallet out, he held his card out before Nova could take it he pulled it back, "Get anything you want, don't worry about the price. Nothing to revealing, please?"

Nova nodded, "Not really my style."

He gave her the card, "Max, is there a specific color you want my dress to be?"

He shook his head, "No, you will look beautiful in anything."

Nova headed down the stairs and met with Riley and her mom, there was also a few guards including Kyle, "Did you get the card?" Nova handed it over to Riley as her mom came down the stairs. Once everyone was together they all headed out to the dress shop.

The girls headed in while the guards stayed outside, Nova looked around at all the dresses most of them more formal than any other dress she had ever worn, "Riley, how formal is the Alpha Ball?"

Riley was already pulling out dresses, "Very, did Max tell you a color?"

"No, he said anything."

Riley nodded and continued pulling dresses, Nova walked over to her mom who was looking at a dress, "Nova sweetie, I don't think I'll be able to afford any of these dresses."

Nova looked at her mom, "Max is paying for it, not you. Don't worry about the cost."

Nova's mom turned to her, "Are you sure you want to let him pay for things? I mean you said it yourself you are just waiting these next couple months out so that you can reject him. You are going to be heartbroken after that and you will also be doing it knowing that he spent all this money on you?"

Nova never thought about any of this, "I guess you are right, I just never thought about it. I mean he pays me for working in the office so I just thought this was something like that. I don't know what I am going to do," Nova looked around the store and saw Riley handing dresses to a worker at the shop. The room was getting smaller and Nova just needed air, "I need some air, I'll be back in a minute."

Nova ran out of the store breathing heavily, "Nova, what is going on?" Kyle looked at her and the other guards stepped forward.

Kyle looked back at the guards shaking his head and they took a step back, "Nothing, just a little claustrophobic, can we go for a walk around the block please?"  She didn't give him room for an answer as she just walked away.

"Nova what is going on? They were about to call Max, I told them not to. We can't be gone too long."

She nodded and kept walking, "I don't know if I can keep doing this, one of those dresses in that store was over fifteen hundred dollars! And I was going to let him pay for that? Who have I become?"
