Chapter Eleven

Danny nudged me with his shoulder as we walked toward the backstage of the Savoy. "I still can't believe you forgot your bracelet," he muttered darkly, glowering at me.

I rolled my eyes. "Get over it. It's not like we're going to run into any trouble."

"You say that now." He sighed in resignation and pushed past me toward Merritt, Henley, and Jack. With an electronic device in his hand, he waved it in front of each of their metallic bracelets. They beeped; they must have been online for tracking. Danny then proceeded to move on to all the crew members, glancing back at me every now and again. I made a different face at him each time, to which he repeatedly scowled at me.

"He's so anal about everything. Goddamn," I snapped, crossing my arms and looking at Jack. He just laughed and shook his head at me.

"Andie!" someone called. I looked toward my right to see a man waving me over. Smiling briefly at Jack and catching Danny's eye, I walked over. "So, Danny wanted me to show you how to work the bank accounts once it comes time for that," the man said conversationally. "All you really have to do is answer the security questions and you're in. After that, you have to search for a person's name that is insured through Tressler Insurance and click on it. That'll bring up their bank account information. From there, you can grant them more money, drawing it out of Tressler's bank account and directly into theirs. Sound good?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I think I can do that. Doesn't seem too difficult."

He laughed. "It shouldn't be. I'm Luke, by the way." He held out his hand and I promptly shook it.

I smiled. "I'd introduce myself, but I think you already know my name, so..." He chuckled lightly, patted my shoulder, and walked away.

Danny appeared by my side seconds later. "What did he want?"

I rolled my eyes again. "Apparently you told him to show me how to hack into Tressler's bank account. Or did you forget, oh wise one?"

He huffed. "I don't need your sass, Andie. We have a show in less than twenty minutes. Have you even looked at your equipment yet?" I bit my lip and tried not to look at him. I caught Merritt's attention and waved. Smirking, he waved back. "Andie. Look at me." Reluctantly, I complied. "Have you looked at your equipment yet?"

"No," I said, trying to sound defiant.

"Do you know how to work it?"

"No," I said, a little softer, more defeated.

Danny sighed and grabbed my arm. "Come on, then. I don't want this show to fail just because you're lazy and don't want to work."

He led me off down a side hall into a room with what looked like a microphone stand with a device resembling a white Life Savers candy attached to it. Danny let go of me and walked over to it, pressing a few buttons on the side of it. "I'm adjusting the coordinates of it right now. Come here." I willingly went over to him. "You have to type in where you want the projection to broadcast at. These coordinates here - " He pointed. " - bring you to center stage. One degree to the left will move you a foot to the left. Understand?"

"Yeah."

He nodded. "I know the coordinates for this room, so I'm going to demonstrate for you, okay?" I didn't reply, but he understood my answer was a 'yes'. "Stay silent." He typed a new set of coordinates in and the white circle lit up to an intensity that was almost blinding. "Testing, check," he said into it. Suddenly another Danny appeared beside me. "Hello, Andie," both Dannys said to me. "You look particularly gross this evening."
