Vincent's POV

I stood up shakily on my legs after a long time. I felt rattled by Luc's admission of interest in my son. I knew there were ways to prove Max was mine but what purpose would it serve? It would only let Luc know that I was one of the parents. He would automatically assume the mother was someone else and would press me to know more. That wouldn't go down well.

"What are you dawdling for? Go back to work." The guard who oversaw me said as he stood guard near the entrance to Luc's private residence.

I sighed loudly as I started to walk towards the stable. As I walked to the stable, taking the short cut of travelling across the big white mansion in the place, I saw women coming out with small children from the house. Curiously I looked at them as the children ran around the fountains, squealing loudly. There were about thirty children in total. Ignoring it, I walked quickly to the stable. I wondered if Luc really loved children. He didn't have the goofy, cheerful personality that children loved nor does he try to change his attitude around children. How does he get along with the children in his house then? I wondered to myself.

I was walking into the stables when I heard someone screaming loudly and hitting the other.

"Why? Why would you do this to me?" I heard sobbing followed by the outburst.

"Lis, please..just listen to me." I heard a familiar male voice.

The guy sounded worried. It took me a while to realize it was Lisa and Ulrich. I don't know why I hid behind a stall. Because of it, I ended up having to listen to their conversation.

"Really Uli, don't you feel anything for me at all?" I heard Lisa ask and Ulrich sighed loudly.

"Lisa, let's not go there again." Ulrich said in an exasperated voice.

"If you marry me, Niles can't do this to me." Lisa said and I frowned. They had been talking earlier. So, I wasn't sure at what point I had walked in on their conversation.

"But Lisa, you can never get along with my wives." Ulrich said.

"Then get rid of them. You were promised to me first. You cheated on me by marrying another woman and continuing to take other women as wife." Lisa cried.

"Why can't it be me?" Lisa demanded.

"Luc was right. You are too possessive to share your husband." Ulrich said with a tired sigh.

"What does that mean? Only a door mat isn't possessive about their husband. What do you do Ulrich? Run around from one wife to another or do you do it in a group?" Lisa asked impudently.

"Really Lisa. If you were a man, I would have punched your face long ago. Why does my sex life with my wives matter to you? I am never going to marry you. It's just that I would never give up on my wives and any additional person I marry would need to accept that for me to accept her." Ulrich said.

"But why? What's so special about them? You owe me Uli. You were supposed to be my husband. I dreamt of marrying you since I was a kid. I loved every little thing about you. Then why did you do this to me?" She asked him. I sneaked out my head from behind the stall to look at the arguing couple.

Ulrich rubbed his face. "Why are you confronting me today? Why did you wait all this time to say your piece?" Ulrich asked her.

"Why? Because I was so mad at you." Lisa said, tears streaming down her face.

"I could ask you the same thing. Why did you not seek me out to explain why you felt it was necessary to marry? You never cared for my feelings." Lisa said.
