it's been a while since i last updated so summary of previous chapter:
Lisa comes over to Chaeyoung's apartment to talk. Chaeyoung admits that she had fallen love with her. At first, Lisa doesn't believe her but Chaeyoung says that she's being genuine. And Chaeyoung's not the only one who's fallen in love. Cause Lisa says this:
"What if I told you that you weren't the only one who started to fall in love?"
At first, Chaeyoung doesn't react. But then she turns around in my hold and I can see that she's trying her best to hold back a smile. Her eyes are glimmering with fresh tears but I can tell that they're happy tears. She wraps her arms around me and we pull each other into a tight hug. Everything about this moment just feels so right.
"Really?" she asks. "You have to be telling the truth. Please."
"I'm not lying," I say back, "I promise."
She starts crying onto my shoulder and I can feel my shirt starting to get wet but I couldn't care less. Because Chaeyoung likes me and I like Chaeyoung and now we both know it and we're hugging. This is the moment I've been waiting for.
"If it isn't obvious, I love you," I mumble into her shirt.
"I love you, too," she manages to say while crying.
When we finally pull away, I reach out my hand and wipe away the tears on her cheeks. "If only we had this moment years ago. It would've saved us a lot of pain and suffering."
"Yeah, we're idiots," she admits with a laugh. "But it's not like we would've ever had the nerves to do this when we were so young."
"True," I say with a small sigh. "So what now?" I ask.
Chaeyoung brings a hand to her face and strokes her imaginary beard. "We do couple things."
"We're a couple?"
"You're such an idiot," Chaeyoung jokingly says. "We just told each other that we loved each other."
"I just feel like we're moving really fast," I say, sitting down on the couch. "We've had feelings for each other since before we even knew what those feelings were. And now that we've confessed our feelings it's tempting to want to jump straight into a relationship. But we haven't seen each other in so long, and we've both changed in one way or another; we should get to know each other again. Like go on awkward first dates. Stuff like that.
Chaeyoung plops down on the couch besides me. "As long as we're together. I'm fine with whatever."
"Okay," I clear my throat, "I propose that we go on our first date tomorrow night. Dinner at the noodle shop closest to my campus at seven. And then we can catch each other up on our lives."
"Sounds like a plan," Chaeyoung agrees. We lapse into a short silence but then Chaeyoung asks, "Can I kiss you?"
"I mean, we already kissed on the elevator that one time—"
Chaeyoung leans over and presses her lips against mine. They're soft, and plump, and the feeling is just so good in every single way possible.
And then, the door to the apartment suddenly swings open.
"Oh, I am so sorry!" the girl exclaims, dropping all her belongings on the floor.
"Youngmi!" Chaeyoung breaks from the kiss. "I didn't expect you to be back so soon."
"The professor didn't show up and class was cancelled," she explains before turning her attention to me. "And who's this?"
"Lalisa," I stand up and quickly introduce myself.
"Youngmi," she says back, "Chaeyoung's roommate."
"Well, I'm just gonna go now. It's getting late," I say, despite the fact that it's not even afternoon yet. I awkwardly maneuver my way through the cramped apartment and over Yougmi's dropped school books before heading out the door. "See you later!" I loudly exclaim as the door shuts behind me.
When I finally exit the building I lean my head against the brick wall and throw my face into my hands.
"Idiot."
