It had been two days and no one had heard from Taehyung. Not Jimin, not his manager, and especially not his fans. The past two days he couldn't bring himself to leave the house. The tainted thoughts consumed his being. He still didn't know what to do.
Jungkook had been supportive though. Even though he didn't know the reason why Taehyung would randomly start crying when looking at his phone, he was still there to comfort the older. He figured that when Taehyung was ready, he'd tell him what was going on.
As for now, Jungkook still couldn't find his phone. He swore he left it on the nightstand, but when he woke up it was no where to be seen. Not under the bed, not on the floor, not in the drawers, nowhere.
All he could do was to continue looking.
Meanwhile, the battle in Taehyung's head was raging. He so badly wanted to tell Jungkook what was going on, but then the younger would insist on looking at the comments online, and there were some that hurt so bad that even Taehyung cried. Some of these people were brutal.
He also didn't want the younger male to feel guilty. He knew he would feel as if it were his fault that Taehyung's job was on the line. And he so badly didn't want his boyfriend to feel that way. They were in this together, Taehyung thought.
Wait
That's just it.
We are in this together. He has the right to know. It's about the both of us. I can't protect him forever. And maybe this so call 'protecting' will actually just hurt him in the end...
And that's when Taehyung called Jungkook over.
The two boys sat on their living room couch, Taehyung still with puffy eyes, and Jungkook still wearing the look of concern.
"What's wrong Tae?" Jungkook asked softly. Was he finally going to open up to him?
"Um, so as you probably know, I've been keeping something from you," Taehyung said, sniffing his nose and wiping it on his sleeve, his voice an obvious sign of congestion.
Jungkook just nodded his head, placing his left hand on Taehyung's back, rubbing it up and down slowly as a comforting gesture, as to which his boyfriend softly smiled.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, but, they...they uh, they-the-the fans..um, they uh, k-know about us," Taehyung stuttered out.
Jungkook wore a look of confusion at Taehyung's words. "What do you mean 'they know about us'?" he asked, his hand slowly falling from Taehyung's back.
"They know about us," Taehyung whispered, looking down at his clasped hands in his lap.
"Oh, gosh..." Jungkook whispered in realization.
"Yeah," Taehyung confirmed. "A gossip magazine posted an article. Apparently one of our classmates from highschool leaked the information," Taehyung said, not wanting to look up at Jungkook.
"I know I should have told you sooner, but I was afraid, I didn't want you to feel guilty. But I couldn't just keep it a secret from you. It's about the two of us, it effects both of our lives. And even after two days, I still don't know what to do. And I really need your help. As you can assume, there are supporters, but there's even more haters. If I confirm it, I risk losing my fans which will effect my job drastically. If I don't, I feel as if I could never show my face in public again, I'd be a liar. Why should someone listen to me or anything I have to say if I could lie about something so big?" Taehyung shook his head.
"Not only that," he started, finally meeting Jungkook's sad eyes. "It's not fair to us," he whispered, taking his boyfriend's hand in his own. "We shouldn't have to continue hiding our relationship. It's not like we're ashamed of it. But it would be a step back in my career. It's not like it's the most important thing to me, you are, but I don't want to make any decisions that you aren't okay with. You come first baby, not my career, you. So tell me, what do you want me to do?"
"Taehyung..." Jungkook sighed, shaking his head at the ladder. "This isn't my decision to make. It's your career. It should be up to you. And you know I'll support you with any decision you choose. Whether you want to keep it a secret or go public, that's up to you babe. But just know, I'll be here with you through anything. We can fight off this hate. You shouldn't let them make you cry. They aren't worth it. They're just lonely bigots who still live in their mother's basement. Even though this is a crappy situation, either way, it'll work out in the end. So just do what you have to do."
Taehyung slowly wrapped his arms around his lover and hugged him. It felt so nice to be back in each other's embrace with out any secrets in between.
And now Taehyung knew what he was going to do. He knew what the right call was.
"Hey Jungkook?" Taehyung asked, pulling away from the hug.
"Yeah?"
"I'm gonna go call my manager...I think it's time we told them the truth."
