seonghwa arrived home the same day after going to the store and buying some food to find hongjoong was in his room getting changed for some reason.

"why are you getting changed?" hongjoong looked back at seonghwa and smiled.

"you know the neighbours on the balcony opposite?" hongjoong asked him. he nodded, feeling slightly uneasy.

"well, they invited us over for a bbq as the weather was nice." hongjoong smiled again, "that and the fact we've never really spoken to each other as neighbours."

seonghwa felt his heart drop. not only were they finally meeting their neighbours, but he was pretty sure that hwayoung lived there. he was in for a fun time.

he dumped the bags of food he had bought before walking to his room to get changed. he grabbed a light blue t-shirt with white writing and a pair of white jeans. applying a small amount of makeup as he like to enhance his features.

"seonghwa, you ready yet?" hongjoong called from down the stairs. the said male sighed, shouting back, "I guess."

---

"hwayoung, get some nicer clothes on." dongmin looked towards his sister who was currently sprawled over the couch in an oversized hoodie and shorts, eating some Pringles from the can. watching 'weekly idol'.

"no." hwayoung stayed in her position, only moving occasionally to pick up another Pringle.

dongmin sighed, "I guess you don't want to look nice for the neighbours then?". he walked out of the room and into his own bedroom getting ready for the neighbours.

the girl immediately sat upright, "neighbours?" she questioned aloud. dongmin sighed at her confusion, laughing slightly.

hwayoung ran to her room getting changed into different clothes. having not ever met their neighbours she was curious as to what they looked like, who they were. did she know them already?

she was deep in thought while getting changed into some different clothes that would be 'presentable' in front of the neighbours. as she got lost in her thoughts the door bell rang, which was shortly followed by her brother shouting for her to come downstairs before opening the door to greet their guests.

as well as having the neighbours over they had dongmin's friends over too, which would only add to the noise. hwayoung could hear the front door opening from her room, accompanied by the voices of everyone downstairs greeting each other.

just as hwayoung finished getting dressed there was a knock on her bedroom door, she opened it to reveal minhyuk stood, "your brother wants me to bring you downstairs." he smiled towards the girl, who was also his friend, before the two of them walked downstairs.

---

hongjoong and seonghwa stood in front of the door of their neighbours apartment, hongjoong going to ring the doorbell. dipping back and hearing it ring through the apartment in front of them.

the two stood patiently for a few moments, hearing some shouting inside, the front door opened to reveal a few young males stood in front of them. there were six of them, which confused the two as the apartment only seemed big enough for like 4 people.

one of the boys there saw the confusion on their faces, taking it as a sign that he should introduce himself "I'm dongmin, the only person that actually lives in the apartment. these guys are just always here."

the two confused males nodded in acknowledgment before hongjoong spoke up to introduce them. "my names hongjoong, and he's seonghwa." the other boys also introduced themselves, although seonghwa and hongjoong both already knew sanha and minhyuk as they were in the same classes.

they group of males talked for a while before dongmin turned to minhyuk, "will you go get hwayoung, surely she should be ready by now." the said male nodded before disappearing to go get the girl.

"hwayoung?" hongjoong questioned, wondering if it was the same hwayoung that was friends with san, mingi and yeosang.

"yeah, my little sister. the same age as you guys I think." dongmin nodded, smiling at the boys. "I really should have let her bring some of her friends, there may be an unfair ratio of males to females."

myungjun laughed from beside him, "yeah just slightly."

a few moments later and minhyuk had returned with hwayoung slightly behind. she was wearing a summer dress that fitted well with the weather, her hair flowing down over her shoulders. she had applied a small amount of makeup, although it was barely noticeable.

the two boys stood to greet her, hongjoong having never actually met the girl gave a warm smile that she happily returned. seonghwa giving her a equally warm smile as hongjoong, her returning smaller one trying not to show her hidden emotions.

after introductions everyone started heading out onto the garden on the balcony, as hwayoung was about to head out she felt someone behind her grab her wrist. she turned to find seonghwa looking down at his hand holding her arm, almost as if he was questioning why he did that himself.

"do you want something?" hwayoung asked, she tried keeping herself expressionless towards the boy, but an undertone of annoyance could be heard in her words.

seonghwa sighed slightly, "I'm sorry." he spoke, looking up from the ground to meet the girl eyes. he was hoping they would show sincerity, but obviously not enough.

"save it, whats the point in apologising if you'll only do something again?" the girl removed his hand from her wrist before walking out and joining everyone else in the garden. seonghwa coming out a few moments after.

to say he was feeling conflicted was an understatement. if he truly liked the girl he would have to find a way to show her that he truly felt the way he did.

but he wasn't sure anymore.
