Vanessa stopped scrolling through her explore page on Instagram, when a Enews post quickly caught her eye. "Oh boy.." She muttered loudly, tapping on the post as it enlarged on her screen.

Zac, while in the middle of tending to boiling pasta noodles on her kitchen stove. looked over at her, as he arched a brow. "What is it?"

She stood up from the living room sofa as she swiftly walked over to the island between the two of them as she extended her hand over the counter to show him. She sighed.

While trying to quickly multi-task, Zac looked at her screen, squinting his eyes a bit. "Ah, gotta love Enews." He snickered a bit, focusing back on his pot.

"I mean.. how the fuck, we're keeping it seriously low-key." She shook her head, as she exited out of the app, sticking her phone in the back of her jean shorts as she seated herself on a bar stool under the counter top island.

"Not worried about it," Zac flashed her a smirk.

Vanessa watched him with a flirty smile, as she rested the top of her knuckles underneath her chin. "I really appreciate you making dinner, It's a nice change from my regular Postmates." she giggled.

Zac grinned as he brought the pot back on the stove before he added a bit of butter and salt to it. "Not a problem at all, it's seriously a great stress relief for me."

Vanessa swallowed as she prepared herself to ask a serious question. "So..um," she scratched at the side of her messy top bun. "How was the recovery really with the.. with the drugs." Her tone grew quieter.

There a small pause of silence, as Zac finished up his cooking, grabbing a kitchen towel from off the oven handle as he cleaned his hands up a bit, before looking over at Vanessa.

"Uh, a really fucking dark time to be honest." He shook his head, looking down for second. "I don't know, I just uh, was stupid and got wrapped up in some really bad stuff, bad people who I thought were good friends at the time." He scoffed lightly, looking back up at her.

Vanessa sighed softly, feeling for him. She soon got up from off the stool, as she walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and bringing him close to her. "I should have been there for you."

Zac hugged her back, pecking the side of her neck. "Nah, you had no obligation to."

She soon pulled back, combing her fingers through a few hairs on the side of his temple. "I did, you still had a place in my heart." She softly smiled.

Zac softly laughed giving her a quick peck on the lips. "So fucking cheesy." He snorted as he grabbed two plates from a cabinet beside the fridge.

Vanessa giggled, smacking his arm a bit.

"Go sit down, I'll serve you." He nodded back toward the bar stool.

"Austin." Vanessa exclaimed a bit shocked at his sudden appearance, quickly standing up from her chair.

Austin paused a bit looking at the both them, but laying more attention on Zac who started to look down at the floor. He laughed a bit stepping toward the both of them as he rested his hands on his hips. "What's up man, I'm Austin." He pulled a fake smile as he extended his hand out to Zac. "Don't think we've met yet."

Zac arched a brow a bit surprised, but soon picking up on his sarcastic demeanor. Zac shook his hand, locking his eyes on him. "Uh yeah we have actua-

Before Zac could finish his sentence he was punched in the right side of his face, blowing him back toward the counter, knocking over dinner plates and wine glasses that soon crashed onto the tile floor.

"Austin!!!" Vanessa quickly yelled out, as she reached her hands out to Zac who was leaning on the counter with his hand clenched onto his jaw.

"Get the hell out right now or I'm calling the police!" Vanessa threatened, glaring her eyes at Austin.

Austin started to retreat back to the front door. Shaking his head and scoffing before soon finally opening up the door and slamming it closed behind him..
