Kanari POV

After feeling stiff all over my body, I slowly woke up from my slumber.

Stretching my limbs and twisting my waist, loud cracks resounded in the....room?

Wait! Where am I?

Looking around, this wasn't my room.

The room was as big as half a classroom, there were lights on the ceiling, desks, couches, chairs, cabinets, a mirror and a window.

Bringing back my usual calm demeanor, I slowly got off the bed.

When the blanket slid off of me, I realized that I was naked.

Observing my body, it was still the same snow-white skin, still has a short height, my body is lean, but muscular, and my hair....turned gray?

Hmmm..... Is this one of the effects of turning into a half-ghoul?

Shaking off my thoughts, I went to the desk that was pushed to the wall and had a mirror on it.

Looking at my features, my hair wasn't the only thing that turned gray, my iris turned crimson red.

While my hair is dark-ish gray, my pupils were dark-violet. As for my face, if it was before two years ago, I would hate it, but after two years in hell, I love how I look cuter right now. I think that I also doubled in cuteness.

Sighing because of my confusing sudden change of bedroom and appearance, I went to look out outside the window.

Assuming from how far I am from the ground, I must be at least 40 stories high.

Seeing that I can't escape just by climbing down, I sighed and just observed.

It has been two years, maybe, since I've seen the outside world, I need to see if there are any flying cars, robots, and floating trains.

Kidding. That won't happen in a mere two years. What I want, at least, is to try to see if I could see any familiar places.

But, sadly, I was not able to see anything that reminds me of a place I've been to, or any landmarks.

As I was in deep thought, I, for some reason, was able to hear people talking and footsteps, which I presume, to be three people, going to my direction.

Confused, again, as to why I have this, I remembered that bastards words.

"U-um....I am professor Jain. My full name is Umaru Jain."(Jain)

"I-I am Konoe. Hemijema Konoe. A-a chief researcher on ghouls."(Konoe)

"Th-the name is Mora. Nejira Mora. Konoe-san's assistant."(Mora)

"Okay~! My name is Kanari. Chihei Kanari. And I'm guessing you need me for something?"(Kanari)

"A-ah! Ye-yes! We wi-will escort you to professor Kanuo's office."(Jain)

"Well~. Let us go then. Please show me the way."(Kanari)

After asking them to do their task, they started to walk and I followed.

Not wanting to make an awkward atmosphere, I made small talk, which they all responded to.

And I was able to know a bit about themselves.

From our conversation, I was able to get that I can have normal conversation with them when we see each other.

When we were in front of a big metal door, it slid open by itself.

"Sorry, Kanari-kun. This is as far as we could go."(Mora)

After saying our goodbyes, I walked pass the doorway, and when I reached the other side, the door slowly slid close.

Seeing that there was only one way, I continued to move forward.

Seeing a normal setting of an office, I knew I was here.

And I knew, that the chair that had its back facing me had that bastard sitting on it.

"Good to see you."(Akihiro)

"Y'know. You can't see me if you have your back facing me."(Kanari)

"Oh! I was sleeping before you came in."(Akihiro)

The bastard, realizing his blunder, thried to smooth it off by making a reason.

"So, why am I here."(Kanari)
