Your POV
It had been almost a month since the simulation. Since Rick told me that he would slow his drinking and let me in. Walking down the stairs of my house I looked over to see my parents arguing. Over me. Shaking my head I left the house as I slammed the door. The swearing and yelling stopping before it started again.
"See? You made her leave Harold!"
"Me? You're the one starting fights Deanna!"
Putting my headphones in I walked down the road. It was a Saturday so there wasn't school for a couple days. I haven't been over to see Rick for a couple days as I was a little mad with him still. I should get over it and technically should have been already. I know he's trying I just, I don't know. I guess I wanted him to do it my way. Damn that makes me sound like Rick doesn't it?
Looking around the street a couple people were working in their garden, watering the lawn or washing their car. I waved to a couple that noticed me walking as they worked. Changing my view to my shoes as I walked on the sidewalk I turned the corner as I made it to the Smith's residence. Walking inside I took out my headphones. Summer and Morty leaned on the couch as they looked at me, their faces down a little.
"What is it?"
"It's Grandpa Rick"
"What about him?"
"He's been with his ex girlfriend Unity, when we left he was high and really drunk. Drunker than normal."
"He's drinking again and he's high? He told me he would cut back"
"Apparently he wanted to have some fun with his ex, so much that he didn't want to come home with us" Summer said as she looked at her phone.
Hearing a portal open in the garage I watched as the door opened. Rick walked in and put his hands in his pockets. He as sober. He frowned as he walked by us. "What happened with Unity?" Morty asked as he stopped.
"Who? Oh, you were right, enslaving an entire planet isn't all that cool"
He walked the fridge for something before he went into the garage again. Glancing at the two I followed him. Closing the door I looked at him. "You wanna tell me what the hell you think you were doing? Drinking? Getting high? Rick we agreed"
"I know what we agreed on! I just can't change!"
Slamming his fist on the table as he was sitting there he laid his head down on it with a thud.
"It hurt you didn't it?"
Rick picked his head up as he shook it. He didn't want to talk about it. Walking over I reached my hand out to put it on his back as he tensed a little. "You said you wanted to let me in, this is how you do it"
Crossing his arms as he leaned back in his chair he sighed. "Unity, it uh." Sitting on the table next to him leaned forward as he put his elbows on the table and held his head in his hands. "It what Rick?"
"It left me, again. It left with a bunch of notes! Why would it do that?" His head hit the table with a thud. I went to reach over to comfort him only for him to push away from the table making the lights on it shake. Shaking his head he looked over to the shelf as he ran a hand through his hair.
"It told me that it wanted to be with me, then it decides that it doesn't want to be with me again. What did I do?"
Hopping off the table I walked over to him. Spinning him around in his chair he refused to look at me. I sighed gently as I pulled him from his chair. He tried to walk away from me. Grabbing his arms I pinned him to the wall earning his attention.
"Stop trying to walk away from what you feel"
"I don't like feeling like this!"
He tried to shake me off but I wrapped my arms around him tightly. "Sometimes you have to do what you don't like. That's just life. Tell me what you feel"
He stopped resisting me as he slid down the wall. We were both sitting on the floor as I looked at him. He sighed as he crossed his arms. "I had the intention to come back here and kill myself." Raising a brow I looked at him. "Why would you do that?"
"I'm tired of always hurting. Every day someone else leaves me, first it was my wife, now it was Unity for the second time." He shook his head as he looked down. "This is exactly why I drink, it numbs everything"
Picking his head up I looked at him" Take the way this makes you feel, accept it and put it in your pocket. You'll carry it with you for the rest of your life. We go through these things for reasons, they help us learn." Grabbing my hand he looked at me as he nodded. "How long until it stops hurting?"
"It may not stop. But that's okay. I'll be with you the entire time. Unlike Unity and your wife, I'm not going anywhere. You'll see my face and hear my stupid face everyday for the rest of your life. You're stuck with me, Rick Sanchez"
He smiled as he looked at me. "I couldn't ask for a better friend to have with me" I stopped as I looked at him. "Friend? Since when?"
"You always have been to me. At least I've thought so. You can put up with me and my stupid shit so, it makes sense for me to see you that way." Nodding I helped him up as I hugged him. He hugged me back as he picked me up and squeezed. Smiling he let me down as he kissed my head. "If you're going to count me as your friend then you can't push me away, you can't take off on me either okay?"
"If you won't, then I won't either."
