Portal Guns and Ice Cream

Your  POV 

Grabbing Rick's hand I pulled him inside for dinner. I sat next to him as we got ready to eat. He was helping Morty with a couple homework questions as Beth leaned over to me.

"He's doing so much better" 

I nodded as i looked at her. "He needs to know that we'll be with him and won't leave. His main problem is that he doesn't like to feel or let anyone else in. He's afraid he'll be left and get hurt all over again." 

She nodded as she glanced over to her father. Sitting up straight he looked at me as he was done helping Morty. After Morty came back from putting his homework in his bag we started to eat. Things were good. Everything was finally getting to how they  were supposed to be. 

Once we were done eating we stood and I helped Beth with the dishes. She smiled a little and thanked me before I went off to the garage. Rick was working on something as he turned to see me. Giving me a quick greeting he turned back to his gadget. 

"What's that?" 

Looking over his shoulder he looked up to me as he held it in his hands, finishing it just then. "It's another portal gun. I remembered that you would be leaving town for your annual visit with your aunt so figured i would make you this so you can zip back and forth when you missed me too much" 

He chuckled as I shook my head at him. "You and your ego, don't you mean if you miss me too much?"

He rolled his eyes "Don't read too much into what I say" Leaning on him as he turned back around to put the coordinates into the portal for both this house and my aunts he turned around and stood. Walking over to the more open floor of the garage he handed it to me. Looking at it he put his hand over mine as he taught me how to use it. 

"Right here you can select the coordinates that you want to go to, I only have a couple programmed for right now so you don't end up where you don't want to be. I'll add more later. This one goes to your aunts and this one comes here." 

Looking up at him I smiled. He looked at me and blinked a little "Why are you staring at me?" 

I shook my head as I looked at him. "What are you talking about? I wasn't" 

He hummed a little before he pushed the button on the portal gun. "Let's see if it works" he said as he grabbed his and my hand. Walking through the portal we ended up in front of my aunt's house. I nodded as i looked around. "You're sure this just isn't another reality where she lives?"

He nodded "When am I ever not sure on anything?" 

"Good point" he chuckled as he looked around and hummed gently. "Damn is it hot here" Looking over to him I nodded, "It is Phenix" he looked at me as I rose a brow. "Let's get some ice cream" he said before he opened a portal with his own gun and walked through it with me. Scanning the room we landed in I noticed that we were in space somewhere. He looked out the window and blinked gently. 

"This place has the best ice cream" he said as he looked at me. Nodding I looked at the board. "Alright, friend. Let's see if you know me well enough to pick my favorite ice cream." Sighing he nodded "Fine, but you have to order mine" 

Shaking his hand I nodded "Deal" 

When it was our turn to order he stepped forward. "I'll have two scopes of (f/i) (favorite ice cream), He crossed his arms and stood to the side for me to order. Smirking I walked up to the counter. "I want three scoops of ice cream, the top will be strawberry, the middle chocolate and the bottom mint. All of that on a waffle cone." they nodded and Rick paid. 

"Spot on, how'd you do that?" 

I shrugged "I notice things  Rick"

He nodded as we got our ice cream and I looked at him as I licked it. He blinked as he watched me. "Don't eat ice cream like that, it'll attract unwanted attention." he went back to eating his as I heard some voices. 

"What's a girl like you doing with a guy like him?" before I could see who it was Rick stood and sized the guys up. "Back off. You've each got three seconds to scat or you're getting your own heads shoved up your own asses" 

Laughing one grabbed my arm and pulled me from my seat. Rick looked over and growled as he took off his lab coat. "You've all graduated from school, but there's still a lesson to be learned" He walked over and punched one of the guys and knocked him out. His friend hit Rick only  to get hit in the balls and was down. Rick turned around to the one that was holding me. 

"I'd let her go if I were you" 

The guy smirked and wrapped his arm around my waist as he sniffed my hair. "Rick just shoot him" He shook his head as he looked at me. "Not an option, sweetie." The guy laughed before he looked at me and kissed my neck a little. I squirmed as I tried to get away from him. Rick grabbed the guy by the shirt as he pulled me away from him and started swinging. After a few punches the guy was out and Rick stood as he shook his head. "Class dismissed" 

turning to see me he hugged me before putting the lab coat over my shoulders. "You okay?" I nodded and he wiped a tear away as it fell slowly. "Let's get you home" he said before he opened a portal home. Stepping through he looked to me and sighed gently. "What happened wasn't your fault, men are pigs, myself included" 

Wrapping my arms around Rick I hugged him tightly. "I'm just happy you were with me" he hugged my back as he rubbed my back. "Don't think about it" Looking up at him I kissed his cheek gently. He hugged me again as he smiled before I looked at the clock and noticed that I had to leave. Giving him back his lab coat and grabbing my portal gun I sighed. 

"I swear that father of yours is making your curfew earlier and earlier." I sighed as I nodded. "I know, he doesn't like, you no matter how much I try to tell him that you're not as bad as he thinks you are." He looked over to me and nodded. "Not that bad? Does that mean I'm still pretty bad?" he chuckled as I nodded" You're terrible" 

Leaving the garage I waved as I started walking home. Hearing my name I turned. Seeing Rick run over to me I stopped as he caught up with me. Grabbing the portal gun he programmed something else into it. "There you can portal back and forth from your house and here, that way you don't have to walk in the dark, and you'll be safe." Looking up at him I nodded as i held the portal gun and he walked back inside. Shooting a portal I went back home.
