Chapter 39

Tom POV:

We sat in the waiting room as the doctors and nurses worked on Casey. No one has said anything since she had been shot. No one wanted to. The thought of Casey jumping in front of us as they shot their guns, leading to her to fall unconscious, barely breathing, was stuck in our heads. 

"Casey Holland?"
My head snapped up as I heard the voice of the doctor. Everyone stood up as she walked towards us with an unreadable look.

"How is she doctor?" Mum asked her. 
The doctor looked at all of us.
" I'm Doctor Fay. Are you all family?" She asked us.
"Family and cast mates. The cast can stay." Dad replied.
"Alright, follow me this way please." Dr Fay replied and walked off.

We followed her into a separate room that had a desk and chairs around it. She indicated for mom and dad to sit down before the rest of us stood behind them. Dr Fay rummaged through some papers before looking up at us.

"Casey was brought in here with two bullet holes, both on her chest area. One of the bullets skinned her heart leading to internal bleeding. We managed to stop the bleeding and safely  dispose of the bullets. However she did go into cardiac arrest. We managed to resuscitate her and she is currently unconscious but breathing. Do you understand what I am saying?" She asked my parents.
"Yes." Dad replied as mum grabbed his hand.
"You can see her but only two at a time."
Mum and dad nodded slowly.
"Alright then. Could two of you follow me please." Dr Fay said before opening the door.

Mum and dad got up and followed after her leaving the rest of us in the room. Slowly we got up and headed to the waiting room. I sat down tiredly and leaned my head back as we waited when suddenly nurses rushed into a room. I looked up in horror as mum and dad came out of it with mum crying. Dad tried to hold it together as he comforted her. 

When mum finally calmed down Dr Fay left the room and walked towards us slowly. We all stood up as she moved into a room.

"What happened to her doctor?" Dad asked as soon as the door was closed.
She took a deep breath before speaking.
"Her heart stopped. We tried to resuscitate her. I'm sorry but we couldn't save her." She with sorrow.
Mum and Kaya burst out crying after that.
"I'll leave you alone. Again I'm so sorry." She finished and left.

I turned towards the wall and placed my hand on it as I started to cry. My little sister was gone. I would never speak to her again. I would never hear her laugh. All of it just a memory.
