The car ride was silent. Seth wouldn't even look at me, but in my heart I knew what I felt. That human... wasn't human. I could taste the same evil I had tasted in Lucard. The same impurity. I shifted my weight.

"We need money." Seth stated.

"Couldn't we steal some?" Hunter suggested roughly.

"That wouldn't be right. It just wouldn't." Noelle whined.

"We don't have much of a choice anymore Noelle." Ryan said throwing in a big eye roll.

"There's always choice and we're not stealing. That's a crime."

"We'll run out of gas, Seth. Hunter is right it's time to make some tough decisions. Night fall is coming and that means stronger vampires about. I'm not risking sleeping out in the open."

"Some of us can patrol while the rest of us get some sleep."

"We'll still need money Seth dammit listen to me!" I snarl.

"Listen to you?!" He snapped back I saw his eyes flash to a cruel gold as his brought the car to a hault.

"We're in the middle of the road!" Carsen warned as Noelle cried into her arms but Seth kept his focus burned on me.

"All I've been doing is listening to you! Follow you around like a lost puppy! Now you listen to me, this is my pack. My family. My friends. You don't know what's best for them I do. I've been protecting them since they crawled into the refuge torn to pieces. You walk in and think you can control everything, I remember you wanted nothing to do with them or me. Remember that, huh?" His face was red and loathing.

I felt a hot tear spill it's way down my face.

"I'm trying to help you." I whispered.

"No you're trying to help yourself. I know you're still waiting for your precious dad to find you. You think I can't feel what you're feeling? I know what you're longing for Noah. I feel it. You're longing for the past. For the fucking little prison you always knew. I just don't understand why."

A loud honk came from behind us.

Seth growled and slammed the door open.

"Seth!" Noelle shrieked.

A loud growl and a few scream were heard.

"Get the pack in this loading truck now." Seth demanded in my mind.

I turned to them all of their faces blank except for Noelle's. Distraught was clearly shown.

"He's just upset Noah. He didn't mean to hurt you." Ryan said.

"Just go get in the loading truck." I said shaken.

Luke pulled Noelle off of Carsen and handed her to Ryan who gave me a stern sad look before she lead the way.

I looked towards Hunter and Carsen who were still seated firmly in place.

"You really plan on being with your family?" Carsen whispered.

"As much as you plan on being with your pack once again."

"They're slayers Noah, don't you see that? They want you dead."

"No... My dad loves me. Charlie loves me. They'd die before they let anyone hurt me. I will find them and I will save them."

"Save them?" Hunter asked puzzled.

"My dad's been locked away. He's being punished for my treason. Charlies looking for me but it won't be long till they catch him. I think... I think Alite is working with the Dark Empire."

I saw Carsen claw into her mate's skin.

"What makes you think this?"

"Let's go." A loud growl brusted into my thoughts.

Carsen and Hunter flinched.

"We'll dicuss this later." Hunter assured me.

We got out the high way was empty and gloomy. The sun was setting into a purplish hue. My eyes scanned around watching Carsen and Hunter's back. They stopped on the dead body of was I assumed of the truck driver's. I shivered as a hand was set on my shoulders.

I swriled around to have my lips meet Seth's.

"I'm sorry." He breathed and then before I could reply he was already standing by the passager side door opening it for me.

I composed myself and managed a nodd.

I could tell this drive would be long.

The silence was broken as soon as the truck began to move. The chatter between the pack was playful and filled the awkward tension between me and Seth. It wasn't long before their conversation drifted towards us.

"So how much cash did he have?" Luke ingurtied.

"Enough to get us to texas." Seth Replied.

"Meaning no motels?" Ryan sighed in defience.

"We'll mange in here."

"Perfect." She growled. Luke kissed her nose and I could hear her smile.

"How far are we?" Noelle asked combing out her long jet black hair as I turned to see how she was keeping up.

"We're close Noelle I promise." He smiled. "I can smell the cows from here."

A giggle escaped her lips.

I turned around to take a peak at Hunter and Carsen. Carsen met my gaze i could see questions in her eyes. Questions i wasn't sure i wanted to give her answers to...some questions i still didn't even have answers to.

I leaned my head back against the window as rain began to poor from what was now the vast never ending sky of Texas. How would Charlie ever find me here? What would he say when he found out i had found my mate? What about his ties to the commune? Did he find out what the commune was up to? Is he involved? I closed my eyes tight as my head went on spinning. I felt a warm hand touch my lap. I didn't have to look to know it was Seth. I could feel a calm come over me. A sense of stability and reassurance but i knew deep down there was none. There was a war going on around us. A war i was stuck inbetween and i couldn't say for sure who i was fighting for anymore.
