Texas must have been the hottest place on earth, there was no vampires here not for miles since we got out of new Mexico and into the big T.

The loading truck had become a safe haven for us decorated with pillows and posters with blankets thrown across several of our small spaces, the back was the den for us sleepy wolves.

"Have you heard from them at all?"

Noelle asked over the wonder years i had blaring fronlm the radio.

I turned to her and took a bite out of ny granola bar. She had begged seth on letting her sitting in front with me during my driving shift. Her long black sleek hair was ruffled and had the i woke up like this vibe written all over it. It made me wonder what i looked like at the moment.

"Not much ive been trying to think them my location but no word."

Noelle blinked.

"Vampire spells most likely."

"What do you mean?" i asked suddenly all too  intrested.

"Vampires can block our communication just by being around and willing it. They must have some powerful vamps on hand." She ran her fingers through her hair as if she could tell i was taking it all in.

"What about your birth pack noelle? did they sacrfice themselves for your freedom as well?" I asked hoping i didnt cross an invisble border between me and my new pack member.

"No..", i heard her choke back her whisper. " I was too weak of a slave dog. i was released. my parents keep in touch along with the rest of the pack as much as possible....but i am no longer weak."

She sat up straight and smiled her child like grin at me.

i laugh "why do you say that?"

"because my alpha is one of the strongest and not only that but a hybrid you are a legendary being to us. you have your own will and the power of the moon. do you know how special that is?" she smiles at me.

"where im from my hybridness is a curse and a shameful one."

"it is a gift noah never let anyone tell you different. you are the only hope left for this war. you are an unwritten peace treaty."

i bit my tongue and fought back tears.  no one ever talked to me sweetly about what i am but i could see the true admiration in Noelle's eyes.  she had seen something in me the commune never could.

"This place looks like a dump." Ryan curled her nose at the sight of the abandoned church.

"Ya well its our dump now." Seth joked.

The door was painted a blinding red which was peeling from every direction.  The rest of the wooden exterior was an off white which that paint color as well was also barely hanging on to the church. It was surrounded by giant oak and pecan trees. When me and seth had first found it several days before we were in awe at how beautiful the glass windows could catch the light just right. He had grabbed my hand in amazement and i felt his warmth all the way up my arm to my shoulder.

we had spent days trying to find the perfect hide away and this was it, vampires had a certain distaste for holy ground especially higher ones and orginals who had already sold their souls to the dark.

"think of it as a new begining for all of us." i smiled. "no more answering to anyone, no more secrets and lies from avalon. a whole new life."

"this church is looking better already. " Luke snickered and kissed Ryan on the nose. "Right sweet cakes?"
