Garrett's POV
__________

After arguing, we finally agreed to look for her.

"Alright. Should we split up?" Eileen asked.

"Yea." I replied. "You go to the site of the ambush. You can see if she's helping rebuild."

She nodded. "And where will you go? And tell me she's there."

"I'll see where she works. If I find her, I'll tell her to meet you at your place when she can. I'll let you know."

"Sounds good to me. It'll be enough to know she's alright. And I'll do the same to you."

"Perfect. Meet you on the other side."

Eileen and I parted, looking for Madelyn. She had to be somewhere. I know my first instinct is that she is at work. She's gotta be there. She had to have recovered a decent amount to start up again.

After walking along the road. I came across a nether brick building with steam coming from a few chimneys. The blacksmith. Might as well check to see if she's there. I've checked everywhere else.

I opened the doors and a person greeted me.

It had to be the owner. "Welcome Garrett, do you need a tool or weapon repaired?"

I glanced at my axe and looked back up at him. "Yea, now's not the time, buddy."

"What about your axe? Need enhancing?"

I shrugged. "Not right at the moment, but I'm looking for my friend. I need to talk to them."

"And who would that be?" He asked.

"Is Madelyn here by any chance? I need to have a word with her." I replied.

"No problem." He said. "She is just about done finishing up her shift. Look here she comes with a pickaxe repaired."

"Sweet. Thanks."

"No problem, dude. You can come by anytime. Refer a friend to get a 40% discount off of your next purchase."

I nodded and texted Eileen that I found Madelyn.

...

Me: found her

...

Eileen: thanks, kid. Let her know to meet me at my place.

...

Me: On it.

...

After I put my phone away, I went over to her. I went to tap her on the shoulder right when she put the pickaxe down on the table.

Her ears perked up as she noticed me. "Hey. Um, Garrett right?"

"Yea, I just came to tell you that Eileen is looking for you. She thought you were still home recovering, but it seems now that you're at work."

"Yea, my shift just ended. I reached my quota for the day. Crafting and repairing tools does clear the mind. It helps me get away from stress. That's why I get so much done."
