Work was going great. I got the hang of it in a matter of minutes, and it felt amazing to finally have a job.

Of course I had to explain to my dad, and he asked the questions; why do you need a job? I'm supporting you right now.

Blah blah blah.

I didn't argue with him cause it was pointless.

I was currently on lunch break. I packed a lunch this morning, so I was sitting outside enjoying the weather as I was eating.

It was close to fall and the weather wasn't too hot. It had a slight breeze every now and then. It felt amazing.

After I was done eating, I threw away my trash then walked back inside. I had a few minutes left but decided to get back to work since there wasn't anything to do.

As I was standing behind the counter, a man walks in with two children. I watch them for a moment then smiled. "Hello. Can I help you?"

He came up to the counter and explained the situation about buying a phone and needing service on it. I walked him through step by step and made sure that he understood everything as I was explaining it.

"Thank you so much."

I smiled as they exited and I caught sight of Mr. Johnathon smiling at me as he walked out of the back. "I'm impressed, Skylar. Your first day and you're taking it like a pro."

I smile. "Nothing to it, sir."

"Not at all. But you're doing a great job. Always smiling, polite, I like it."

I smile as it made me feel good that I'm doing such a great job on the first day. I couldn't wait to start making money and saving up.

One step at a time.

Work was over around four.

I didn't want to go home, so I decided to go around town and look for stuff to do to pass time.

I had a little money from Mr. Johnathon. Since he knew that this was my first job and I didn't exactly have money, he was nice enough to give me a small amount just to help me through until my first paycheck.

Talk about a great boss.

I decided to go get something to eat. I wasn't eating at the house since Ana is the only one that cooks, and her food isn't the tastiest.

I walked into this café and sat down. I waited until a waiter came over and asked me what I wanted to drink.

"Mountain Dew will be fine."

He smiled then gave me a menu and told me that he'll give me a few minutes to look it over.

I flipped through the menu as everything looked delicious. My stomach was growling just by looking at the pictures.

I found something that looks amazing then waited for the waiter to come back out.

I looked out the window as all the cars were passing by. There were people walking in front of the café and I watched them pass by.

As I was looking, I caught sight of someone that, without a doubt, caught my attention instantly.

Miss MIller.

I steadily watching as she, and her friend, walked across the street towards the cafe that I was currently sitting in.

They made their way down the sidewalk, walked passed the window then into the cafe's front door.

I watched as they looked around then made their way to a table and sat down.

I decided to avert my eyes somewhere else before they caught me watching them. I looked down at the menu as I continued waiting for the waiter to come back.

When he walked over to my table, he placed the glass down in front of me. "Are you ready?"

I nod as I picked the menu up. "Can I get the Philly cheese steak? Fries on the side."

He wrote it down then grabbed my menu and walked away.

I leaned back as I looked around and caught Miss Miller watching me. She smiled then looked towards her friend, who was sitting across from her.

They were talking and her friend glanced over at me for a moment then looked back at Miss Miller.

I picked up my straw and took the paper off of it. I placed it in my drink then rolled the paper up in a ball.

I picked my drink up and took a sip from it. I looked out the window as everyone was driving by or walking pass the window.

As I was sitting there, I had this feeling that someone was watching me. It's weird how you can feel when someone is looking at you and I had that exact feeling.

When I looked around, Miss Miller had turned her head just time and made me wonder..

Was she watching me?

I couldn't help but smile as I watched her talk to her friend.

When the waiter came back with my food, I was more than starving. I didn't want to seem like I was, but it was hard when that food hit my mouth.

After I got done eating, I wiped my mouth then looked around and didn't see Miss Miller or her friend anywhere. They must have left as I was eating.

I put a tip on the table then went to the bathroom.

When I entered, I heard talking but went to the sink to wash my hands. As I was rinsing my hands off, I overheard a conversation.

"Julie, you cannot keep things from me."

I look up through the mirror as I knew that Miss Miller and her friend was in the stalls.

"Can we not talk about it in the restrooms?"

I heard a slight laughter. "Why can't you just tell me her name?"

"How do you know it's a she."

It was silent for a moment.

"Cause you're gay."

I stared at my reflection in the mirror as I was in a state of shock.

Miss Miller is gay?

"I am not talking about it here."

I heard the toilet flush as I quickly grabbed a handful of paper towels and rushed out of the bathroom.

I walked to the front and paid. I turned my attention towards the bathroom as they were walking out, talking.

I smiled as the girl behind the counter gave the receipt to me. I thanked her and walked out of the café then down the sidewalk.

As I was walking to my car, I couldn't stop thinking about what I overheard. It had me in a state of shock, but also relief to find out that she was gay.

But just because she's gay doesn't mean anything. I may have a crush on her, but that's all it is.

Just a crush.
