7 Months later

I couldn't calm my nerves. My hands were shaky. My breath was short. Ugh.

"Breathe." Nicole spoke softly.

I sighed. "How? We're graduating, Nicole. I don't know if I'm sad or happy."

I felt relieved that school was over but it went by so fast. It felt like everything was written on a sloppy piece of paper, crumpled up, then thrown away.

Nicole looks at me then smiles. "You look gorgeous, Skylar." She leans her chin on my shoulder.

I look in the mirror and took a deep breath. I look down at the dress I had on and couldn't believe that this was it.

This was the end.

But, this was not the end of my journey. That was far from over. It was the start of something better. The life after high school is something that I never would have imagined.

But it was here.

"What time do we have to be there?" I ask.

Nicole looks at her watch. "In about an hour."

"Can you hurry?"

"We got time."

"No, I have to pee."

She looks at me through the mirror. "Are you serious?" I nod. She sighs then steps away. "Go."

I ran to the bathroom. I don't know how long I've been holding it man, do I have to pee so damn bad.

When I walked back out, I stood back in front of the mirror and watched as she examined my dress. She was messing with it, pulling it, twisting it around.

"There." She smiles.

I look at her. "We done?"

She nods and I look in the mirror and smile in approval. It didn't look bad, considering I don't wear dresses often. Only on rare occasions.

"Brian said he'd be here in a few minutes."

I straighened up my dress as I looked at it in the mirror. It made my curves show, and even though I didn't really like it, it felt good.

I helped Nicole fix her dress then she dragged me to the bathroom to put make-up on. I groan as I sat down and she was looking through her purse. I hated this so bad.

"Why do I need make-up?" I question.

She looks at me. "It makes you feel like a princess, Skylar."

I cross my arms. "I don't want to be a princess. I want to be a fucking potato."

She rolls her eyes then tells me to sit still. I do what she says as she starts applying the make-up. I hated this. But it was only for tonight.

After thirty painful minutes, she was done. I look in the mirror at myself and nodded in approval.

Brian walks in the stops when we lock eyes through the mirror. "Aww, Skylar."

I turn to face him. "Shut up."

He laughs as I push past him and walks out. Nicole came running up to me and making sure that my make-up was good.

"It's time you guys."

I took a deep breath as we all three walked out of the door, towards our future.

"Fix your cap, Skylar."
