The alarm startled Lafayette awake, as he quickly sat up in bed. Luckily for him, he remembered to set multiple alarms the night before so he wouldn't be late. Again.

He hopped in the shower, getting ready for the day. His first day. It felt like school jitters all over again, worrying about what the day might bring.

He dressed himself in a pair of black slacks, a pink button down, and a black bowtie. He looked in the mirror, throwing his unruly curly hair into a bun as neat as he could.

He looked himself over, throwing up finger guns. Gosh, he was so awkward, he chuckled to himself.

It was 7:45 before he grabbed his satchel, and headed out the door. The subway ride was short, and he didn't feel as nervous as before.

Smiling at the secretary on the bottom floor, he jumped in the elevator to the top. The desk secretary had left him a message to be at work at 8 sharp, and to report straight to Mr. Washington.

He knocked, only to be answered by a gruff "come in." Lafayette closed the door, taking a deep breath when he saw the intimidating man behind the desk.

"Mr. Lafayette. You're here on time," the man said, giving him a quick glance.

"I decided your desk will be in here in the corner for convenience. You will have breaks periodically, and at noon I will send you on a lunch run. Right now, I need you to run down to the cafe on the 10th floor, and get a black coffee. Get whatever you want. Once you get back we will get started," he explained rather quickly.

Lafayette nodded, before realizing he still didn't look up. "Yes sir," he said, kind of disappointed at his attitude. But what did he expect from such a gloomy man.

He quickly retrieved what was asked of him, placing the coffee on the desk. Washington nodded, finally looking up.

"This company supplies all laptops. There is one placed on your desk, with the information to in on a note. Today is just a simple day, setting things up. You can bring things from home to organize, and accessorize your desk. After lunch, I will show you around and such," he said. Lafayette nodded again.

His tone made Lafayette sort of feel weird. The way he was demanding was.... hot? No, he couldn't think like that.

He headed to the desk, opening the laptop, and got to work. Before he knew it, noon came around. He was getting the handle of things, but the deafing silence made his eye twitch.

Couldn't there be music or something? But of course, Mr. Grumpy just typed away on his computer, barely even acknowledging Lafayette.

George stood up, shrugging on his suit jacket. Lafayette stared confused. "Um... sir I thought you wanted me to go out and get something," he questioned.

George looked at him with a shrug. "It's your first day, I thought we could go somewhere together. Come along," he said. Before Lafayette had a chance to reply, the man strode out the door.
