8: Anna Nubel
It took one comment. One person who agreed that the person Belle was showcasing was beautiful. One person who found exquisiteness in imperfections and found other particular aspects that made the person unique.
It took one comment.
And others followed.
And it wasn't just about the people she shone the spotlight on.
People were making comments about everyone.
Slowly, there was a difference occurring.
Belle started making more frequent posts. She decided to make one about everyone in the grade.
The absence or presentation of pigmentation in skin needs to be appreciated and not discriminated. It tells us a story, one of many generations. It provides us with a culture, so exotic and amazing. It gives us experiences to cherish and remember. Anna Nubel, hair like midnight and skin of mocha is an example to us all. Skin shouldn't conceal us, shouldn't embarrass us, shouldn't exclude us. It represents us, empowers us, welcomes us. Anna Nubel may not think she's beautiful, but I do.
